really nothing much, so many better churches in the country/continent/world.... If the famous statue in it, isn't that interesting. Estetically a disappointment thus

“Refreshing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 July 2014

About time we came to a cathedral that hasn't got all of the glitter of precious gold and other objects. Built in Romanesque and gothic styles it's refreshing to take in the splendor of it. The high ceilings, towering spires and sheer size of it makes it a must see. Views around are splendid and it is in close proximity to many other attractions. The old town requires a lot of time to see all that is on offer. You would a few days at least. Good one

“a locals view”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 July 2014

Living here, it's sometimes hard to see and recognize the beauty all around.
The cathedral is one of the places that wakes me up every time we have the chance stop by. The chasteness mixed with the color of the sandstone is more beautyful than all those fancy, golden & garish churches around.

Stop by, take a seat and have a few QUIET minutes.

Beautiful old Catholic church. Burial site of Germany only Pope. Wish there where more signs explaining the historical relics. Overall was a nice visit.

“Beautiful”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2014

Whether you'll visit the Dom for religious purposes, artistic purposes or historical purposes you will not be disappointed. Some might see it as dark and oppressive, but that's exactly what the High Middle Ages clergy wanted to instill in the populace and this cathedral is a unique example of late Romanesque/early Gothic style. For the Catholics, Bamberg Cathedral is the site of the only papal burial outside of Italy and France.
