“Nice grounds and panaromic view”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 July 2014

Made the short but steep hike to St. Michael's Church on a Tuesday and most of the restaurants and offices were closed. You could not go into the church/old monastery, but my wife and I enjoyed the panoramic view of the Bamberg's Altstadt and the grounds around St. Michaels was beautiful and well maintained.

“Go for the view”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 June 2014

The Church is closed for renovations for the unforeseeable future, but don't let that deter you from visiting. The walk to the top of the hill is moderate in difficulty, but worth ever heavy breath and bead of sweat. The grounds of the Church are beautiful, but most impressive is the sweeping vistas of Bamberg. Great photo opportunities, and spectacular views of the Bavarian red roofs. If the walk up the hill makes you thirsty, there is a biergarten on the church grounds. Prost!

“Closed due to fragile construction, still worth the view”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 May 2014

The church is closed down due to a crumbling interiour until further notice (i.e. restoration). It is nice to look at from the outside and the whole area is worth a visit. Especially the spectacular view from the garden. Skip the restaurant.

“Beautiful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 October 2013

A short walk from the old Rathaus over the river, this church is situated opposite the Neue Residenz. The massive steeple towers are quite spectacular as is the size of the actual church. It forms part of the old castle grounds and is definitely well worth exploring.

“Very pretty”

This is a very pretty church, however it has been undergoing extensive renovation work since January with no indication as to when it will be finished.
