“Good, but no atmosphere”
Reviewed 8 September 2013

They have extremely helpful girls at the reception. Clean large hotel with no authentic atmosphere or coziness, which the small ones usually have. Plenty food at large breakfast room, but mostly cheap and the pastry isn't from bakery, but supermarket. Regarding other hotels in area of the sea - a little expensive for value.

This hotel never fails to meet expectation, with a wide mix of rooms from singles to apartments with a mezzanine level.
Topped off with a rooftop sun deck and a spa in the cellar.

The staff are multiple lingual due to the location of the hotel on the edge of Lake Constance

The bar is stocked of everything you can imagine, and the pool is just the right temperature. The hotel has private parking at the rear offering secure free parking, wifi is a plenty even in the rooms.

There are multiple choices of restaurant within a short walk of the hotel, and fantastic restaurants on the quay side a very short walk away with views of the lake.

Hire bikes are. Plenty and easy to book with multiple bike friendly marked routes along the lake.

It's well worth a visit

Based on TripAdvisor, I chose to stay here on a summer holiday trip through Germany. I was not disappointed. The lobby was great, checkin was great, the room (two level suite) was great, and had an extra bed waiting as requested. The breakfast was excellent, nice little lobby bar with friendly staff all around. Really nice, modern place. Quiet, good A/C, lots of room. Location is perfect. We parked and walked everywhere. Lots of good shopping, restaurants, sights, etc. Would have stayed another day if possible. Will return if able.

This hotel is close to the lake and the Zeppelin museum, and has a car park. We arrived later in the day, and spaces in the car park were fast filling up. We chose an end space, but another car arrived later and somehow shoe horned itself in next to us (it was so close to our car we thought they must have climbed out of their car through their sun roof!) so be warned and arrive early afternoon to secure a space. Apart from that we were pleased with our choice of hotel. We had left it late to book a hotel on Lake Constance/Bodensee, and getting to Friedrichshafen involved sitting in a long traffic queue on the road alongside the lake. So, if we visited this region again in August, we would probably choose to stay in Konstanz and book well in advance. Having said that, if you do want to visit the Zeppelin museum (which is excellent) and want a hotel in Friedrichshafen, we would recommend the City Krone. The staff, particularly the reception staff, were all extremely helpful. The breakfast buffet was one of the best we have sampled, including various juices and teas, fresh fruit salad, muesli, yoghurt, smoked salmon, eggs, bacon, fabulous bread, croissants and various cakes including cheese cake. The hotel also has a pool, although with our tight time schedule we didn't make use of it. The hotel bar looked stylish, although again given our time schedule we chose to dine at the Italian restaurant alongside the lake. Overall, a good choice of hotel for our stay in Friedrichshafen.

Centrally located , near lakeside, ferry berths, Harbour train station and the Zeppelin Museum. 1st class buffet breakfast. Note that some rooms are in a seperate building by the car park a short walk away and may involve steps. Not a problem for me but worth checking when booking.

We stayed at the hotel while attending a trade show in the Messe Friedrichshafen. The hotel is conveniently located in the center of town, very close to the lake and near the Zeppelin museum. The room was very large and clean, the breakfast excellent. Very good hotel, to be recommended.

I was very happy with our choice after staying here for 5 nights . The hotel is located in the middle of town and has a good balance of character and comfort.

From arrival and throughout our stay, the staff were helpful and polite. The check-in service was efficient and quick and the front desk helped us out quickly with ordering a taxi etc. I gave the full five stars as the hotel even mailed us a pair of glasses back to Denmark, free of charge and with no fuss after we left them in our room by mistake.

The room was of a good size and the bed was nice and comfortable. There were a few touches around the hotel that gave a bit more character than many places I have stayed in: free popcorn in the lobby, a mini-bag of gummy-bears on the pillow, pictures of Hollywood icons in the corridor. Breakfast included a good selection of breads, the usual sausages, eggs cold-cuts etc.

WiFi access was included and (for once) worked with no glitches - we had several devices logged on at the same time and got stable and fast connections.

I cannot comment on the spa or pool as we did not try these out. There is even a small sun-deck on the roof that affords a view towards the Bodensee and the Alps. The only slight negative point is that I felt the bathroom could do with a bit better ventilation, but it was not really an issue, more a suggestion for improvement.

All in all, a good place to stay at an acceptable price.
