My first visit over 50 years ago, but the quality has not changed. Wonderful cake and tartes. Bring some of their famous cookies home for friends.

We stopped here for lunch. The tea was unusually good and the cakes we large and good quality and choice. If you get the chance eat upstairs ( two sets of stairs) as the room is a lovely old tea room with a large fireplace that makes you think of an old English tea room. This alone makes it a delightful place and even though we only speak English we had no problem being understood. Good value and very good food.

The lunch menu was limited which is ok at a cafe but the food was not good quality. The bratwurst was nothing special, the spaghetti was low in flavor, the tomato soup was chunky and didn't come with bread. And the service was terrible. The waitress was beyond rude, like very rude. And I spoke German. I would not recommend.

We were recommended to visit by our German friend who had to return to work. We decided to call here for cake and tea. There was a huge array of delicious looking cakes and the assistant (who spoke perfect English) could not have been more helpful. We chose our cakes and headed for a table. While we don't have more than a few words in German between us, we have found, almost without exception, German people to be welcoming and extremely polite. I don't know if the waitress did not like English people/did not like us/was having a bad day or what it was. It would have been hard for her to make us feel less welcome - we found her surly and rude. We left disappointed, pausing only to tell the charming lady at the cake counter our experience and thank her for her kind attention.

After poor food in the hotel we were staying in, I needed good German food. We spotted this restaurant in the middle of the Christmas markets. They have an English menu, which helped! The food was excellent, plenty of it, attentive service also an brilliant choice of beers, some draught! Please give this restaurant a try, you won't be disappointed, the decor is magnificent as well! I recommend.
