We have eaten here three times, twice on our last stay in this area in 2009, and we made a special trip back this year. The hotel/restaurant is not, as Trip Advisor states, in Goslar, but in Hahenklee, a small village with a beautiful copy of a Norwegian stave church. The countryside all around is superb for walking, and we actually walked there from Zellerfeld. We loved the white asparagus (spargel) so much on our last visit, we had to see if it was as good this time. I had the Flammkuchen with Spargel, beautiful and crispy pasty base, good German ham and delicious white asparagus. My husband had a portion of Spargel with a schnitzel, a wonderful veal taste and so much asparagus, I had seconds.
Drinks: my husband had Maiselis weisse, the best wheat beer he tasted this trip (and he tasted a few), I had pinot grigio which was good. We sat outside with the view of the church just across the road and the waiter was very helpful. A cappuccino set us up for the walk back. Cost for lunch 46€. In the woods near the hotel that is a new set of wood sculptures called Liebesbankweg, a circular tour of 7k, with different benches all the way round representing the different anniversaries starting with the wedding day: very interesting. There are many mountain bike routes here as well.

Room clean, very quiet at night, no traffic noise. No tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Lots of rules and regulations written out on a card in the room. Could not use your own travelling jug in the room because of a fire hazard. There was also a list of items in the room and the price charged to you if they went missing.

Supposed to have free internet, but had great difficulty in getting online with our ipad, perhaps due to where the hotel was situated. Breakfast was okay, could only have half a banana most days as they were cut up and placed in a dish. Evening meals were at a set time and served by staff.

We were in a tour group travelling out each day to various places. There was nothing much to do of an evening time after our meal, luckily most days we were very tired after a day out travelling and visiting sites that we went straight to bed after our meal.

Staff very helpful, trying hard to learn English. Got the impression that they were only used to dealing with German tourists and were beginning to take bookings from tourists from other countries.
