“What a gem! Loved this historic hotel”

Great place to stay if you enjoy rustic living. No fancy all-glass elevators, marble floors or jacuzzi's, just good old German hospitality and quality food. Place is family owned and they truly made me feel at home during my one week stay at Windeck. Historic castle is part of the grounds, panorama from restaraunt deck of top of the tower is amazing. rooms are small, but comfortable, as long as you don't mind walking the stairs. Decor is simple and clean, place is spotless. Room was made daily, I had everything I needed. Trails into Schwartzwald start at the parking lot Schnapps at Jagersteig next door is great too! Would love to come back again.

We spent 3 days at the Hotel while visiting the area and loved it. We had my Dad and his wife traveling with us and we chose this location as the surprise stay to celebrate their anniversary. My Dad and I had visited Germany in 1984 and we both fell in love with the Rhine Valley. The hotel sits high on a hill overlooking the valley and Dad spent every morning on the patio with his binoculars exploring the valley below and enjoying the wonderful German breakfast.
The rooms were cozy and well appointed and the food was great. We didn't eat in the main restaurant but we ate in the restaurant located in the old stable. Very cool idea to eat in the stables!!
The ruins of the old castel remain on site and we enjoyed exploring the area. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We had to sit in the lobby to get internet service but that was a minor inconvience (I actually enjoyed it because I could 'people watch' while I checked email).
We had a wonderful experience and would return again!

Lovely castle hotel with reasonable rooms, with a modern clean bathroom, an older CRT TV, a minibar (which was empty), a small safe and a comfortable bed. The work table was a little small but did the job. The restaurant had great food and drinks with visitors coming just for the food. The castle has a car park opposite with sufficient parking and there is a play area for children. The hotel had great views looking at the hotel or out from the hotel.

We had a lovely stay in this hotel.
The location is perfect with a lovely view, quiet area and still very easy reachable from the highway.
The restaurant is excellent, everything freshly made and high standards.
We got a very spacious room with a very comfortable baby cot for our daughter, she slept wonderfully in it. The only negative point is the cleaning services, which already started at 7 AM. This was quite disturbing in the morning.
But overall we surely recommend this hotel for a relaxing stay in the Black Forest.

Stayed here in 2010 to attend a wedding nearby - flew London to Stuttgart and picked up a hire car - hotel easy to find at the top of a hill so great views of the vineyards and surrounding countryside. The hotel has a very good restaurant (local trout is great), a sauna, clean and comfortable bedrooms - we stayed in the block across the courtyard from the restaurant/reception. Parking was limited, so we sometimes had to park on the street outside the mail gate - ok if walking not a problem (take an umbrella in case it's raining). Would definitely stay here again.
