“Great start to our Olympic trip”
Reviewed 6 September 2012

Stayed at the Premier Inn Buckhurst Hill in late July for the Olympics. It was ideal and I couldnt fault much about it at all. I'd been looking online for months at hotels East of the Olympic stadium, close to a tube station that connected to the Olympic park. Finally booked this one when prices came down at some of the Premier Inns a few weeks before the Olympics. Paid £119 for a night, which was above the usual Premier Inn price, but it was a good deal for the Olympics.
The location was great - its a fairly long walk to Buckhurst Hill tube station (took us 20 mins to walk....25 coming back as its uphill!!) but you are then straight through to the Olympic Village at Stratford in a few tube stops. The free parking was also a big factor in booking this place - we left our car while we went a day session at the Olympics and then got the tube back and picked up the car later on. You need a ticket from reception to use the car park which is issued when you check in.
THe hotel had made a real effort for the Olympics - there were flags up around the hotel, and the reception staff were making a lot of effort to chat to customers about the Olympics at check in. THe breakfast waitress from Brazil was also very frinedly and made our 5 year old fell very welcome. Sometimes Premier Inn can be a bit impersonal, but this one was very friendly and had a really nice feel to it. It was helped by the fact that most people staying were going to the Olympics and the place was really buzzing.
There's a Toby restaurant next door, but we drove to Loughton (5 minutes drive max) where there is loads of restaurants and bars. Pizza express etc.

Rooms were the usual Premier inn - clean, comfortable, no problems at all.
Overall, a really nice stay - would recommend this if you are looking for a clean, comfortable, friendly hotel, close to East London attractions.

Stayed at Buckhurst hill premier inn for 4 days over the olympics - we used it basicly as a place to sleep and wash for which it proved perfect. Pleasant welcoming staff, clean and efficient - did what it said on the tin.

We stayed at the Premier Inn at Loughton Buckhurst Hill as we had tickets for the Olympics, it is in an excellent location for travelling into London without the London hotel price tag. Free carpark which is a bonus for London. You are only 10 minute walk to the Buckhurst train station, which took us straight to Stratford. Hotel very clean and comfortable we stayed in a family room with our 15 year old which is spacious for just having a good nights sleep., reception staff very helpful and pleasant. We didnt have breakfast, but there is a number of nice cafes in the area where you can have a nice reasonably priced breakfast. Would go back again if I was visiting London.

We stayed for one night for a visit to the Paralympics. The hotel is located in a good position, very close to M25 and a 15 walk to Central Line tube which takes you into central London. There is a Toby Inn next door with good value carvery and nearby many good restaurants in just down the hill from the hotel which looked good. Our room on the first floor was well presented - large double bed and single. There is no air conditioning in the room which even on a relatively mild night was hot and stuffy. Unfortunately opening the secondary glazing and window whilst cooling the room meant we had to endure the constant drone of of mechanical noise from somewhere behind the hotel. We parked for free while we were at the Olympic Park which was very useful.

The hotel is adequately furnished and very clean but has no air-con. Unfortunately we stayed there on the hottest night of the year and the small window barely opened as it had a safety device fitted. There was a fan but this was noisey and only circulated the hot air. Our room overlooked the adjacent pub so there was quite a bit of noise late at night, as people left. The noise as the empty bottles etc were collected early next morning was quite amazing. I appreciate that it is a budget hotel but there were only two tea bags provided and no shower cap. However, on the plus side the staff are delightful. Just beware of eating at the Toby Carvery in the pub next door. It is advertised as serving a main course for £5.99 but for some unaccountable reason the price goes up to £9.49 on a Sunday for the same meal!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the opposite side to the pub.

Restaurant staff could not have been more helpful.Recommend this hotel to anyone, the best Premier inn i have stayed in yet.

Room Tip: Ask for gruond floor if you have elderly travellers as there are no lifts

Stayed here recently for Olympics. A good Premier Inn, a little small in terms of room size but perfectly useable. Bathroom unique with shower only. Clean and comfortable and a great place to base yourself for easy access to all that London has to offer.
