“Amazing! And cheap!”
Reviewed 8 April 2013 via mobile

What a great lunch! Was driving from Bordeaux to Paris, long trip. Had the luck to stop in this city to eat something on the way. Checked Trip Advisor on the phone, and went straight to this restaurant, believing the great reviews. Was not disappointed. In fact, I was surprised at how good it actually was. Ate like a king for more than an hour. Amazing food. Top quality. Don't even need to write much, you must try it!

“New find”
Reviewed 3 April 2013

I picked this restaurant as a result of the previous reviews on Trip Advisor, and the recommendation of a friend. I live about 21k away and have been looking for a replacement for the Tartine (now closed) as a favourite restaurant. We went at lunchtime to celebrate a friends birthday so were a table of eight chattering adults.
The ambiance is modern, friendly, busy and efficient, the food is superb, lots of interesting flavours beautifully presented and each course carefully described by the staff as it was set in front of us.

There is great attention to detail and excellent service. I would not hesitate to recommend this to travellers or locals alike.

“Top quality with a flourish. Will definitely go again.”
Reviewed 20 May 2012

1st visit to this lovely restaurant in Niort. Booked the early 19.30 dinner slot on a Saturday evening. Bright and modern decor. Our group chose from either the 28euro or 36euro menus. 2 or 3 choices for each course. (Although our French is quite good, it was tested with the menu!)
Aperitifs served with delightful canapes of little savoury cakes and blinis topped with a parmesan crisp with a slash of tapenade. Then we were served with a dinky cup of hot fish soup with the tiniest little fish sandwich. My starter was ravioli filled with duck and peas. My main was fish, not quite sure what though, with a cauliflower puree and endive decorated with a flavoursome pistacio swirl of sauce. We all had a little cheese course of a kind of ile flottante of a cheesy mousse in a goats cheese sauce. Mad but interesting. Then I had a very Heston B - type blackcurrant sorbet with popping candy on the top which really took me back to my childhood and "Spacedust". (All the rest of our group tried it too - perhaps I shouldn't have shared it) Then pudding looked like a huge fried egg in a bowl but in fact it was a coconut froth with a mango mousse in the centre filled with passion fruit sauce. Coffee was served with another little side cup of coffee froth. Very interesting.
Out of all our dishes there was only one which failed to please. A dessert with 3 types of lemon which really was too rich and sickly. The rest were very good.
Every dish was introduced by the waiting staff, who described each aspect of the food. It really gave it a sense of spectacle. They were very attentive throughout. We had a delicious bottle of Pomerol too.
Probably not a choice for a quick meal but as we were in a group, the time passed deliciously.
