We found this hotel restuarant, and indeed the whole Thuringia area, by chance when looking for a pleasant and quiet spot to spend the night away from the motorway as we travelled west across Germany.
In a very attractive small valley by a stream on the edge of the small town of Tambach- Dietharz in apparently a well-known walking area of the former East Germany (walks signposted everywhere).
The staff had virtually no English but were very helpful. The decor and quality of the bedrooms and restaurant were warm and welcoming. Our large bedroom was nearly a suite, having a 3 piece suite and music system as well as a TV, and a good bathroom with both bath and separate shower.
The husband was the chef and clearly enthusiastic about his work eg free appetisers and home made chocolates to finish dinner.
The dining room and bar were all decorated seasonally for the autumn. There was perhaps too many decorations in the gardens - and which had a small plunge pool as well as the local stream but overall the entire experience and effect were very enjoyable.
