“Black Forest rendezvous”
Reviewed 8 September 2013

Charming resort up the hill from Hinterzarten, probably more fun with a car but we managed without one for most of the time. Had a one bedroom apartment with a nice kitchen with dishwasher etc. The balconies of all the apartments - that have them, immediately over look the resorts small garden, then the grazing land of the farm next door and with lovely forest in the background. Very calming just to sit in the balcony in the morning sipping coffee, in the afternoon drink beer and in the evening sipping wine and read. The receptionist a very kind and helpful lady, though reception has very limited hours of opening. The cleaning lady was very dour. Enjoyed the small indoor pool, there was also a sauna. Bear in mind, on the sunny days the balcony gets to hot to sit between mid-day till 7pm and one has to pull the heavy curtains to try to keep the place cool and so are not able to enjoy the view. The bedroom was at the back and constant noise from the cars did get irritating. We used to get to the station at Hinterzarten by Taxi - booked at the reception or in my stilted German from the apartment then with free travel card that you get for paying the city tax we travelled to Lake Titisee, Triberg Waterfall, Freiburg and Basel easily. The cabled internet was very fast and worth the money. Would gladly return to the heat, traffic noise and all. Oh and the Greek restaurant at the resort serves glorious moderately priced food, though keeps very erratic timings.

Room Tip: Avoid the apartments in the wing above the pool, coz the cows create quite a stink that side.

Can't really add much to the previous reviews except the one that refers to a great gym. To be clear, there is an approx 10mx4m pool and a sauna, but no gym. That was a little disappointment as we had read that there was one, however in the scheme of things it didn't spoil what was a great holiday. In particular we had a great time at the 'seebad' in titisee.

We spent a week at this place, as part of a time-sharing exchange, and we felt that we got an excellant deal. The unit was spacious, clean, the beds were excellent, and the receptionist was extremely gracious.
We were able to get the keys on a day that the receptionist was not there, and similarly, we were able to leave our bags in the room till late afternoon and drop off the keys in a keybox after all the staff was gone.
The unit is big enough for two couples or a family with 2-3 children.

Lovely location , but if you do not walk a car is essential, but once in the town trains and buses to almost every where. Accomodation excellent, 2 bed apartment small kitchen, bathroom and balcony, but adequate for 2 people. Free transport for visitors with pass issued by accomodation. Good receptionists but info on surrounding areas not available.. Greet gym and pool area. Lake Titisee, Hinterzarten and Frieburg are a must.

If you are happy to walk or use local taxis, then staying in Erlenbruck is for you. What an amazing picture perfect pretty village. Facilities at Erlenbruck was great for the little time we spent at the resort. Great indoor swimming pool. Pity the reception area and staff did not provide much information at all about local area or attractions. We really enjoyed our early morning walks to the station and a stop at the bakery at the station. The accommodation was very comfortable and spacious as well as quiet. Pity the interior lighting was not good enough to event read - too dim even with all the lights on. We will be back and the free trains included in the local tourist tax was well worth it. Thanks to all the locals for making our stay memorable.

I stayed here through RCI timeshare. Good accomodation, lovely location and excellent receptionist.
We had a one bedroom apartment, huge balcony, small kitchen, decent size living/dining room.
Location great for visiting Lake Titisee, Hinterzarten itself and Frienburg. We caught the train into Titisee and Frienburg which was free as we had to pay a tourist tax.
Would come back here again. You don't have to have a timeshare to stay here, you can book direct with the property.
Lovely walks, an hour walk into Titisee, train back!
We will return one day.
