Charming resort up the hill from Hinterzarten, probably more fun with a car but we managed without one for most of the time. Had a one bedroom apartment with a nice kitchen with dishwasher etc. The balconies of all the apartments - that have them, immediately over look the resorts small garden, then the grazing land of the farm next door and with lovely forest in the background. Very calming just to sit in the balcony in the morning sipping coffee, in the afternoon drink beer and in the evening sipping wine and read. The receptionist a very kind and helpful lady, though reception has very limited hours of opening. The cleaning lady was very dour. Enjoyed the small indoor pool, there was also a sauna. Bear in mind, on the sunny days the balcony gets to hot to sit between mid-day till 7pm and one has to pull the heavy curtains to try to keep the place cool and so are not able to enjoy the view. The bedroom was at the back and constant noise from the cars did get irritating. We used to get to the station at Hinterzarten by Taxi - booked at the reception or in my stilted German from the apartment then with free travel card that you get for paying the city tax we travelled to Lake Titisee, Triberg Waterfall, Freiburg and Basel easily. The cabled internet was very fast and worth the money. Would gladly return to the heat, traffic noise and all. Oh and the Greek restaurant at the resort serves glorious moderately priced food, though keeps very erratic timings.
