“Excellent castle, great location”
Reviewed 15 October 2013

This is a great castle overlooking the Bodensee (Lake Constance). The ticket seller asked me if I had several things that might give me a discount. I had used the BODO day ticket to get there by bus #7395, so it qualified me for 10% off. The 1 euro guide in English was excellent, giving just enough information on each room without boring the reader.

Lots of armor and weapons. Don't need to take a tour, can spend as much time as you want in each room.

If you visit Meersburg Castle - any time- I mean good or bad weather circumstances don't miss the Cafe-Restaurant /BURG-CAFÉ/
Very pleasant baroque chamber with original furnitures and kind
service with candle-light /midday as well if you get only one coffe or tea/

“A different castle experience”
Reviewed 7 October 2013

Germany, seemingly, has a castle on every hilltop, but this one is special. Historically, it is touted to be the oldest still existing castle in Germany (7th Century). Armed with good guide printed in English and were able to tour at our own pace. Toured first thing in the morning and generally had each room to ourselves. This helped create a much stronger sense of how it must have felt centuries earlier. A wonderful experience.

“A really fine castle experience”

A wonderful sense of atmosphere, and so much original fittings and furniture. Very good value for the price - we were there for over an hour.

“authentic old castle”
Reviewed 3 October 2013

This castle was more enjoyable than any of the Ludwig castles. It was a more intimate tour and not all redone. The only problem is that they only do the tour in German so I had to be the translator for my friends.
