Went for a drive to Meersberg to have lunch & a look around. Did a self guide tour of the castle which it was well set up for. Just walked through at a leisurely pace, found the castle's history and age very interesting. Very well worn floorboards. Had coffee in the cafe at end of tour. Definitely worth a visit. Found the town also very interesting great location on a nice day to have a beer over looking the lake.

Didn't find it particularly informative, but something you do when you are visiting Meersburg. If you happen to have a sunny day you can grab a drink on the terrace with views over the lake. You can purchase a ticket at the entrance for E2 and just have a drink or eat in the coffee shop, the money is deducted from the bill.

We were driving from the Zurich Airport to Munich and wanted a place to stop mid-trip. This turned out to be a great place. Arriving by ferry on Lake Constance, the castle is impressive and the restoration more so. From the entryway with its winch to raise the drawbridge to the Knights Hall, chapels and towers this was an interesting stop. There is also the death chamber of Annette von Droste-Hulshoff, the most popular German poetess who lived in the fortress during her time at Lake Constance. We spent at least a couple of hours going through all the rooms and thoroughly enjoyed it. An audio guide is available and makes the tour much more interesting.
