I did not actually stay in this hotel, but did spend our last night having dinner there with our German friends who suggested it was pretty special. My wife and I had eaten out every night in Meersburg and popped up before hand to see the menu. What stood out immediately was the fact that every meal was at least twice the price of anything we had eaten elsewhere. It was too embarrassing to say anything so we just went along with it. On arrival the staff were friendly and the view is fantastic, however upon ordering a beer, I soon discovered they only served bottled beer which arrived warm (the first one I had had all week) Having pointed this out the waitress, she told me it was as cold as it came, so clearly they had only just stocked up their fridge. She took my bottle away and presumably put it in the freezer for a few minutes, but it still came back warm and she made a big point of bringing me an ice bucket to put it in. The meal was the poorest one I'd had all week, with my pork dish quite tough and chewy, and when they brought the desert menu, I refused to have one on principle as they started at the same price as the main courses I had been having all week. My wife had a chocolate mouse, which just tasted like 'Angel Delight' so I was distinctly unimpressed.
