Traditional style but great breakfast

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 16 Apr 2019
The Wiestor is very traditionally styled, perhaps old-fashioned, but the room was comfortable, spacious and clean, plus it was nice to have a couple of chairs and table in the room. It’s also very close to the main part of Uberlingen and has a secure cave storage facility for bikes 5 minutes walk away. However, it is located on a fairly busy road and if roomed at the front of the hotel like we were, the noise and light are noticeable.

The big winner was the breakfast though - lots of choice and very satisfying!

As cyclists using this hotel, you cannot fault the bike storage. The hotel has a garage facility where they can be stored overnight and provide you with a key for access - this really is brilliant. The reception area and breakfast room is well presented, staff are friendly and the breakfast a good quality. We stayed during hot weather and the room had an effective fan, plus a fridge which was great for keeping water in for our cycling the next day. The outlook onto the square is lovely and the hotel is located close to a wide variety of restaurants on the lakeside.
However, we were in a room on the front of the hotel and we had to close the windows at night due to the noise from the road outside. The decor in the room was very dated and in places shabby. The ceiling had some exposed wires and the telephone wire was also exposed, appearing a little dangerous!

We stayed here for 2 nights - it is what I would call a basic hotel. We stayed in Room 16 - which was peaceful and a good size. Decor is slightly old fashioned but the staff were very nice, and the location is excellent - only about 100m from Lake Constance and the waterfront bars and restaurants. Parking close by - although this cost an addition Euros 15 per night. They offer tokens for the parking but unfortunately had run out when we requested one - but it is worth asking if they have any when you check out. Breakfast was continental and very good.

Room tip: Ask for a room at the back to avoid traffic noise. Room 16 is spacious, quiet and with a nice big bathroom - with a bath.

Good "old fashioned" Hotel that makes you feel genuinely relaxed, Excellent breakfast with lovingly prepared extras. Parking is easy in nearby communal Prakhouse, exploring the region best done from nearby frequently served station via "Gruppentagesticket" ( 17 Euros for a day pass for up to 5 people) if the town and the local walking and cycling is not enough for you. Very friendly staff will advise you.

Room tip: rear facing rooms very quiet

Great hotel, great location. Owner lady could not have been nicer or more accommodating for our visit. Room was large and clean. Internet worked great. I have stayed at other hotels in Uberlingen but this was the best.
