“Excellent location”
Reviewed 23 August 2014

We stayed for 3 nights. Our room looked out to Neuschwanstein castle and the views of the countryside were lovely. We travelled with our 16month old son.The staff were all extremely friendly and attentive. There are free bikes to use and childseat too.The cycle paths are excellent in the area and are separate to the roads. One suggestion would be to have a kettle and free tea/coffee facilities in the room.Overall we had an excellent stay. The location in the countryside is stunning and we would highly recommend Hotel Ruebezahl.

This is the cutest little hotel in the world IMHO, and it has the most gorgeous view in the world. Hands down. When we looked off our balcony we could see two castles. One was Neuschwanstein, the real-life inspiration for Disney's Sleeping Beauty Castle, owned by Mad King Ludwig of Bavaria, Germany. The other one was Hohenschwangau, the birthplace and childhood home of King Ludwig. These two beauties are just across a pretty good size cow pasture, up in the mountains. And if you're doubting the cows, just look down from the balcony. Veal on the hoof, directly below. It doesn't get fresher than this. The hotel itself is a treasure. Beautiful feather beds and all you could need. Like a Swiss Chalet.

I stayed with my wife from 27th for four nights. We found the staff very cordial. Elisabeth at the reception was excellent and guided us for various excursions in and around Fussen. We had a room on the second floor of the new wing with an excellent view (though not the castle view). Room had spacious balcony. Hotel provided us with bikes and also took care of castle tour bookings. We opted for half board which included excellent breakfast and the dinner each day was awesome ! Marko really served us well and we found him extremely efficient and he took great care of us. My wife is vegetarian and she enjoyed the cuisine very much. They changed the menu each day.

We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and would like to stay there in future .......

Room Tip: Take the room on the upper floor. Don't pay extra for castle view. Other rooms on upper floor ar...

Found this restaurant on Trip Advisor and decided to try it out on the 1 night we were staying in the area! This restaurant defines the word service! The food is simply to die for- spectacular! Special mention to Marko who looked after us so very well! Toped off by 2 beautiful castles in the background!

I really don't know how I can sum this this place up in a short review, it really was perfection.
The location was stunning. The view of the 2 castles was breathtaking. The staff were amazingly friendly and went out of their way to look after us. We were offered champagne on arrival before we even checked in, just to relax.
The spa was very elegant, if not a little confusing at first. So many rooms to choose from, but there was something for every mood. Individual jacuzzi baths, sauna, steam room, salt grotto, relaxation room, treatment room and of course, the rooftop pool, overlooking the castles too.
We went for one of the suites, and it was so beautiful. Very spacious, huge comfy bed, amazing big walk in shower room and a little sitting area with wicker rocking chairs that looked out over the castles too, with a little fruit plate and chocolates to enjoy with the view.
We took the King Ludwig Castle package while we were there, so had a whole day of castle tours included, but the staff arranged everything from tickets and bookings, to maps and recommendations for getting there and about.
The food was also remarkable. We arrived at "cake time" so indulged ourselves and it was a sign of things to come with the standards in the restaurant. Every meal was perfect. Amazing selection, and on one night we went for the King Ludwig special set menu, which the chef selects, and it was outstanding. The breakfast buffet was also huge, all fresh and too much to choose from.

I really cannot say a single word in the negative about the hotel, the staff or any of the facilities. I was so sad to leave, as this is the best hotel I have ever stayed in and have never been made to feel so welcome anywhere. And I miss the view of the castles.

Title says it all, the staff are charming, and make the hotel really special, when we arrived the receptionist made us feel really welcome. Out room was beautifully furnished and equipped, with a spring water fountain for drinking, definitely never had that facility before!
The area is outstanding, the hotel has plenty to do if the weather is not so good, we enjoyed our stay and were sorry it was not for longer.

Room Tip: Ours was a standard room, nice size, little balcony, lovely decoration and colour scheme, I am sure...

I don't think there are enough adjectives to fully do justice to this hotel. We were here for only 4 days /3 nights but it was a wonderful sojourn from arrival to departure. The hotel is not the most luxurious in the world although it is of a very high standard but what sets it apart is the peaceful ambience and friendliness/professionalism of the staff. It is just perfect and very reasonable.
So, what made it so good for us? The check in was swift, friendly with a welcome glass of bubbly. We were shown to our room, a junior suite, Maximilian room 41 which was tastefully decorated with a balcony overlooking the castles. The room was very comfortable, the bathroom a good size and well equipped. Our bed even had twinkly lights over it (you can switch off/on and dim) -sweet. A small bottle of bubbly was awaiting us as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary (Thank you for remembering!). The food was superb -I loved the salmon for breakfast plus range of fresh fruit in addition to the usual. There is a good selection of German and Austrian wines too - I can definitely recommend a few of these. The staff were great. The spa facilities were good - I loved the various rooms with sauna/salt room/water bed and so much more. (The swim pool is quite small and outside but lovely on a warm day).
With the half board package you also had afternoon coffee and cakes included. The Sachertorte is excellent, as was the Apfelstrudel (so my husband told me -I wasn't prepared to forego my Sachertorte!). Such a treat as I usually don't eat cakes.
At check out we received a small pot of jam with their compliments and very good it was too.
Currently the hotel is undergoing improvements but these did not affect our stay at all.
The hotel is very well placed to visit the castles - easy walking/cycling distance if you don't want to take the car. Pfronten is a beautiful place to drive to walk up in the mountains - 15 mins drive plus the gondola is included in the konigscarte which is provided by the hotel. (This card provides lots of savings for gondolas/chairlifts/museums etc). Oberammagau is also good for a day out, along the "romantic road".
I would love to return here soon. Thank you Hotel Rubezahl!

Room Tip: We had maximilian junior suite (room 41 shown on invoice) which was lovely. Oak wood and yellow/lemo...
