“An excellent base to visit the Neuschwanstein Region”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 July 2013

We stayed in a lovely room at the back of the hotel with good views of the castles. The hotel is very clean with well appointed bedrooms. The staff are lovely and very willing to give sound advice on visits. We enjoyed the drive to Linderhof which was our favourite castle.Avoid Oberammergau.Nothing but a tourist trap.
Their are two good restaurants within walking distance.Take the sound advice of the hotel. You may need to book.
Breakfast was very good .One of the best on our tour.
Be at the local castles early to avoid a long wait.

Clean and spacious rooms, very comfortable even in Bavaria's summer heat, and a very quick trip to the front door of the ticket office to tour the nearby castle. Helpful staff even made our reservations, helped us find an amazing restaurant. Delicious breakfast. We had a bit of trouble finding it at first, thought our GPS was malfunctioning, but actually the property is in Hand, which is part of Schwangau. Once it was put into the GPS as Hand, not Schwangau, no problem. I'd go back here, and I'd definitely recommend it.

Even though we only spent one night it was excellent. Our GPS (Garmin) took us right to the front door. We had been driving from Zurich after an over night flight and were very tired. They recommended an excellent restaurant across the street and later a great referral to a restaurant in town. All of our reservations for castle tours tickets were made. We were very pleased with our room with view and the great breakfast. Thanks for an excellent stay.

Absolutely great, very welcoming. Breakfast was great and in wonderful surrounds.
Had excellent room, with not just a whirlpool tub, but also a red light cabin, which helped those aching bones after hiking.
Over all absolutely wonderful experience, and highly recommendable.

Room Tip: Pays to invest the extra money to have the whirlpool tub in room!

Everything you want or need, the owners go out of their way to help. Monica and her son, specially, speaks wonderful English. The place is clean, modern, and in a beautiful area. It is less than 5 minutes by car to the castles. The breakfast was simply outstanding, homemade cakes, bread, great assortment of cheeses and cold cuts. We recommend. Only improvement is that they could use a heavier material for the window curtains that would allow less light to come in to the room from the street lamps.

Room Tip: Rooms to the castle are more quiet, but in the back buildings, they are away from the main drag.

This is a perfect hotel for those driving: easy to find, plenty of parking, and close to all the sites. Excellent English is spoken, and they take care of their guests quite well. The property consists of the main building with breakfast area, and a separate more modern two-story building behind it with 8 clean and spacious rooms. Best breakfast of the six small hotels we stayed at during our tour of Bavaria!!
Across the street is an excellent restaurant for dinner at the Hotel Helmerhof. It is very popular with the locals, and rightly so. Reservations recommended. Enjoy your visit of the castles and Fussen at this conveniently located and well-run hotel property. There is a large grocery store just a couple of kilometers up the highway in Schwangau for stocking goods.

Room Tip: Rooms in the back building are off of the highway.

A great hotel to use as a base to visit the king's castles. It is just 5 min drive from the hotel. The hotel is super cute and charming. The owner (Monica) is extremely helpful. We had advance online reservations to visit the castles and we had to be there at 8:50 am to pick up the tickets. The breakfast usually starts at 8 am, but Monica accommodated us for breakfast at 7:30 am itself. The spread is HUGE. We wish we had more time to try out all the stuff.

Like one of the traveller mentioned, we also arrived late and had our room key and all the instruction taped to the front entrance!

The hotel has just enough parking spots to accommodate all the guests which is great!

We had a very comfortable stay.
