“The Tower is Fun, the Beer is Great, the Food is Inconsistent”
Reviewed 21 August 2013

It is fun to climb the tower with a great view of Garitz and the hills around Kissingen below and the Rhoen mountains in the distance. You can get there by car or by foot from Bad Kissingen over nicely groomed trails or from Euerdorf, Wirmsthal or Sulzthal past some small vineyards and up the logging road in the back of the restaurant.

The beer brewed in house is very good. The food can be fresh at times or sometimes it tastes pre-cooked and rewarmed. It is not bad but not consistent. The menu is local Frankonian. The Leberknoedlsuppe is usually good. Try the Schaufle, a Rhoen specialty made from pork belly. The overall experience is usually good, especially if you enjoy good beer. Sunday lunch especially when the weather is good is very busy and it pays to make reservations for the restaurant for groups larger than four.

“view top, food flop”
Reviewed 29 July 2013

the Turm (small Tower) is outside of Bad Kissingen and has a fantastic view and if you like beer, it might be nice to test their own home made beer. The Food was not something I would recommend and also the Service was poor.

“Yummy!!”
Reviewed 2 May 2013 via mobile

Food is always good and the husband enjoys the beer. They do have English menus and the staff speaks English pretty well. They are open on Sundays but you'll have to choose from a none English and changing menu because they do different specials. It is very popular on Sundays so try to get there before 2.

“Great Views, Good Food, Slow service”
Reviewed 30 December 2012

This was a great place for the view and their own beer, but the service is slow and the food is merely ok.

“Another fun attraction”
Reviewed 19 April 2012

We stumbled across the sign leading to this tower and followed the arrows until we arrived at the tower. The tower itself has some history you can read for yourself at their website. For no cost at all we climbed the wooden stairs ascending the inside of the tower until we made it to the top to survey the countryside. While up there, we were able to see paragliders setting up to launch off the hill on the grounds of the Wittelsbacher Turn hilltop. We also stayed for an hour or so for some dessert from the rather charming restaurant onsite. Turns out that the restaurant has a super friendly staff with menus in English readily available. We will certainly return when the family visits.
