It is fun to climb the tower with a great view of Garitz and the hills around Kissingen below and the Rhoen mountains in the distance. You can get there by car or by foot from Bad Kissingen over nicely groomed trails or from Euerdorf, Wirmsthal or Sulzthal past some small vineyards and up the logging road in the back of the restaurant.
The beer brewed in house is very good. The food can be fresh at times or sometimes it tastes pre-cooked and rewarmed. It is not bad but not consistent. The menu is local Frankonian. The Leberknoedlsuppe is usually good. Try the Schaufle, a Rhoen specialty made from pork belly. The overall experience is usually good, especially if you enjoy good beer. Sunday lunch especially when the weather is good is very busy and it pays to make reservations for the restaurant for groups larger than four.
