Although my room was not ready to stay the night (electrician did not finish his work), this was handled professional and ended up in one of their suites.
Fitness room and a sauna made this stay agreeable, combined with the connected restaurant with good food

The overall reviews of this hotel were not that great so I did not expect very much. The main reason for staying there was that it was a good logistical fit. However, I was pleasantly surprised by almost everything about the property.

We arrived 15 minutes before 10 pm, which is the end of food service at the on-site restaurant. However, the staff was very patient and accommodating as we got in our food order at the last minute. The food was quite tasty, by the way.

The room was comfortable, if not fancy, the people were all great, there was ample parking, ample power outlets in the room, the breakfast was fabulous, and they brought me an iron and ironing board immediately upon request.

The only somewhat negative things were that the shower was a little tight and one of the two light bulbs in the bathroom needed to be changed - reported that so it has probably been changed.

I would definitely stay at this property again if I come back to the area.

located on the main street of Bensheim, few minutes from the main highway (A5), good solution for exhibition period in Frankfurt, or for travelling in Heidelberg area.
the building is old, a bit old-style decoration, rooms are basic, free internet WiFi and simple breakfast, there is a parking lot in the back, most of the time with free parking space.

I stayed here in August 2011 for one night while attending a nearby wedding. The reception staff were unfailingly polite and helpful. The room itself was very simple, if a little outdated. Everything was very clean and the bed quite comfortable.
The breakfast selection was very generous. There is also a Biergarten restaurant attached to the hotel that was a nice place for a beer and a chat in the afternoon. There are several shops and restaurants within easy walking distance and plenty of parking available, as well.

I recently stayed for two nights in this property with my family. One of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed at in Europe. Completely renovated with new carpeting, tile and fixtures - the only thing that wasn't touched was the antique doors and door frames to the rooms.

The free Breakfast was outstanding as well. Includes bacon, eggs, sausage, with variety of fruits, breads, cheeses, meats, etc.

Bensheim has lots of restaurants in town - we ate at a restaurant just down the street, warmly received. Hostess translated the entire menu for us. There are also market stores near the hotel and an ice cream store across the street open late - great after spending a day in Heidelburg.

There's also Auerbach Castle overlooking the town. It's a fairly well intact castle with no admission charge, easy to get to - my kids loved it. Can't go wrong staying in this non-touristy town !!!

  • Liked — Quiet town with friendly people - near Heidelburg and Auerbach Castle
  • Disliked — Nasty lip when stepping into bathroom

Stayed for two nights in May. It was cheap to book on the Internet, and I have been more than happy with the stay there, although i do not feel it deserves four stars - its more like a spotless three-star hotel.

We were given a double with a fairly boring German traditional decor. However, bed comfortable and bedlinen spotless, bathroom new and spotless. Its certaibly no boutique hotel, but comfortable.

Now the bad points: When we arrived in the afternoon, the reception was deserted. We walked around the lobby shouting 'Hallo' but no answer. One could have thought a deathly virus had blazed through the hotel. Finally, we used the phone on the reception desk to phone the hotel number, and someone 'counting linen' picked up and checked us in. A day later, we requested to borrow an iron and were told they could not find one. Hardly four-star quality.

But some members of staff (trainees) went out of their way to help with local information and train timetables.

Breakfast was alright, nothing special by German standards.

Would stay again but not pay rack rate.

  • Liked — cleanliness
  • Disliked — inability to borrow iron, no tea/coffee trays
