“Lovely Family Hotel, Very Hospitable Hosts”
Reviewed 5 October 2012

I spent one night in this lovely hotel as a solo traveler in September. Claus and Chiara are excellent hosts. Claus is also an excellent chef so I do recommend staying for dinner.

The outside of the hotel is a little deceiving, so do not be put off by appearances as the hotel is large and homely inside.

The location is excellent for exploring the town, the surrounding areas and venturing into the the beautiful Harz mountains.

I brought my 80 year old Dad to Clausthal to research our German ancestry. The Wolfs welcomed us as if we part of the family. The
hotel is comfortable and homely. It was an extraordinary 2 days due to Klaus and Chiara's exceptional help and hospitality. We will definitely return!

The owners, the Wolves, are very nice, friendly and welcoming, next to the fact that many languages are spoken. Food is excellent and rooms very comfortable. The hotel from the outside does not show that it is rather big, nor that it has a very pleasant garden in which one can relax and enjoy nature’s beauty. The walking one can do (or cycling or just going around by car…) in the beautiful country side, where the silence but for chirping of the birds, is wholesome and very restoring! Also the nearby villages are lovely to visit! I've been here before, but came back and will come back again!”

Room Tip: All OK, but the ones at the garden side, nicer

I visited Wolfs Hotel quite some times over the last couple of years. It is a simple but very comfortable hotel. The most important part is the personal service. Chiara and Claus Wolf run this hotel for many years and have created their own style that is in essence; make your guests feel at home! A warm welcome when you come and personal interest.
And of course Klaus' cooking; simple without pretentions but delicious!
In short whoever is looking for a good homely hotel in the middle of the beautifull Harz region be it busuness ot pleasure Wolfs Hotel will be an excelent choice!

I visited Clausthal Zellerfeld to visit the town where my Great Grandparents came from, leaving there in 1840's to settle in Australia.. I stayed at Wolfs Hotel,, the hospitality was great, both owners went beyond the expectations one expects from hoteliers, lovely German meals.
I was extended help with my search for information on the relatives, even the proprietor going with me to act as an interpreter...
A good way to visit Germany would be to go by their comfortable, fast and safe trains, I travelled first class it was not necessary, then bus to the visit the small town especially in the Harz area. The local bus fares are really reasonable...
Careful of the Turkish taxi drivers from Frankfurt airport, travelling at 160 kph and Texting at the same time, did not want to finish where the Heines and Griffenhagens started my line..!!

If you want a wonderful friendly family atmosphere with great food but all on a shoe-string budget then you must visit the Wolfs hotel. Claus & Chiara are just the most wonderful hosts - Claus cooks the best food in the Harz mountains. See you both at Xmas!
