We, a family with two small children, stayed at the Hotel Bergischer Hof end of October 2011 as we were traveling through the area. We found the website online and reserved for two nights. The staff at check-in was really kind and quick and we were happy to see that the baby bed was already set up for us in the room. The breakfast is a MUST! we really enjoyed taking some walks to the close Rhine river.

since we really loved the hotel we extended for another 2 days - it really was great!

My boyfreind, bestfriend and I stumbled upon this Bed and Breakfast and even though they were closed they let us in and gave us a selection of rooms to stay in. I felt right at home and the couple who owns/runs it went out of their way to accomodate us. Breakfast was great and its close to lots of castles to visit and hiking trails to play on. An overall great bed and breakfast!

This hotel is a premium value. The atmosphere both inside and outside the hotel is VERY German. The service is excellent, the food is absolutely outstanding, and the people are both friendly and congenial. We were there in their slower season so we were treated more like friends than guests. They even remembered my birthday with a gift of local wine and a special breakfast.

The village of Konigswinter is worth the effort and the time to visit. Just 40 Km south of Colonge, it has that small German village atmosphere on the Rhine River. The cruise trip on the Rhine was memorable. The village is very cleat with a wonderful combination of old Germany to experience, and a newer, German-like shopping district that was fun to visit.

On the north edge of Konigswinter is the ancient castle ruins of Drachenfels, that is a must to visit. The historic Castle is about 250 meters above the Rhine River atop the ancient mountain of Drachenfels. The panoramic view is a breath-taking vision of the Rhine and surrounding mountains.

Will I go back again? YES, probably next Fall to revisit my new friends.

I just stayed for 5 nights at this hotel in Konigswinter, and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I hadn't organised accommodation prior to arriving in the town, and just walked into this hotel as it looked nice. I was met by the very couple who own the hotel, and was given a great room on the spot. The owners were very helpful, breakfasts were good, and the location fantastic.

I would highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a great value, reasonably priced stay in this little village. Great showers and fast free wireless internet access to rooms.

First, it is important to note that this is NOT the hotel of the same name in Cologne/Koln. THAT hotel has bad reviews. This hotel is in the smaller city of Konigswinter, about 30 minutes from Koln by train, and a short walk from the train station, the Rhine, and the nice little pedstrian-only mall with shops and cafes. Free parking is a couple of blocks away, underneath the autobahn overpass; ask for directions
Best: the breakfast and the breakfast room. Charming atmosphere, good food, very courteous service. Try to linger over coffee there.
Hotel is operated by a nice German couple who are the owners, I think. Very helpful.
Check in: Get there early. There is no 24-hour desk clerk.
Free WiFi. Yes, "no strings attached," as we Americans say. WiFi was free and it worked.
Room: clean, neat, charming in an older decor way. Not luxurious, but equipped, everything worked, more than adequate.
Price: reasonable
The town: K'winter is quiet. There are places to eat, but eat early or they might close.
Suitable for all travelers, budget travelers. The hotel is charming, but the room itself is not romantic, if that is what you are looking for. The gracious hospitality and the rest of the hotel's decor do create a nice, warm atmosphere, though.
Bonus: You will enter Koln from the south, and then cross the Rhine heading directly toward the Hauptbahnhoff and the Dom. You will see the Dom from across the river. Nice view on the way in if you arrange yourself on the train to catch this.
Summary: sehr gut! Ich wurde wieder dort bleiben. Forgive me if I used the wrong verb or word order but, I would stay there again. We planned to stay only one night and stayed two.
See photos.
