We wanted to stay in Bad Duerkheim for the Wurstmarkt, which is a huge wine festival. There is not much choice in hotels near the festival so we booked this hotel despite reading some of the negative reviews here.
Based on those reviews I was not expecting much but I have to say we were very pleasantly surprised.
There is a public pay parking lot adjoining the hotel and we got a spot there with no problem. There is a special reduced parking rate for hotel guests.
Although we didn't use it, the spa at the hotel looked very nice.
The location for the Wurstmarkt was ideal. You walk through the beautiful Kurpark to get there and the park itself is worth a visit. The tourist information center is also nearby and you can get a map of a walking tour from them if you'd like to explore the town at all, which I recommend. The room had WiFi included and was very comfortable. The bathroom was absolutely huge. I do not hesitate to recommend this hotel at all, particularly for anyone going to the Wurstmarkt or any other event in or around the Kurpark.

This is an ok hotel. The rooms are ok and the service is friendly. However you can't be serious when you offer your hotel guests a bottle of water for 3.80 Euro. This was during the hottest week of the year. If you can't bring yourself to offer it for free, then at least don't add a 200% mark up. Nobody will buy the bottle and also you will lose business in the long run. Sad.

The hotel is nicely located as the center piece of the Kurgarten Park, a few steps from downtown, the giant wine barrel restaurant, and the interesting Saline structure at Bad Duerkheim. Reception at the hotel is professional yet impersonal, no warmth or accommodating feel here. The hallways and rooms seemed to have gone through recent renovation however they remain bland and simple, too uninteresting, ‘un-designed’ for a four-star hotel. This could be any German 2-3 star hotel, anywhere. Certainly not an international four-star standard. The spa area is nice, especially the newly renovated saunas with three different temperature zones. The main pool is currently closed and the small pool near the sauna is surely no substitute. Pale blue and white colors dominate the dining area which gives the place a cold unappetizing touch. Here I met the most unfriendly bartender in quite a while. This hotel could be such a relaxing, wonderful place; it has the location, the building and the potential. But some serious management shakeup should create leadership in order to do better.

Ok sums it up really...pretty town, lovely park...pool room enjoyable..but overall nothing much to draw comment. Enjoyed the spa pool room, nice and warm, very clean and a good way to relax away an hour or two on a raw winter day.

We have stayed at the Kurpark Hotel on 3 separate occasions with the most recent being in July of 2012.

It was a great surprise to us when we arrived on our most recent visit that the original mineral springs swimming pool was no more, replaced by a much smaller pool. The whirlpool has also been eliminated.

The overall quality of service in 2012 was not as good as we experienced on our earlier trips in 2008 and 2010. We had requested a room with a balcony overlooking the park many months in advance but when we arrived they had us in a room without any balcony and with no view. The front desk person did change us to a room with a balcony but did not seem to overjoyed to be doing so. There were also a few minor problems such as the saunas not being turned on when scheduled, wireless internet service down for two days, etc.

The food in the restaurant was excellent as usual and the restaurant personel are friendly and on top of their game. We always note that many the restaurant people are the same when we return but that the front desk employees change quite frequently.

Overall we love the value, location and the food but could do without the loud late night music from the band. We will stay there again in the future as it is hard to beat for the value.

Room Tip: Room 411 does not face the park but is private, larger than most other rooms and does not experience as much of the late night noise from the band which plays in the park.
