This hotel is absolutely fine. No, it's not the height of luxury but I'm not sure what some people were expecting. It's perfectly set up for school groups - the dining area is buffet style and just what students are used to in their school canteens - they collect their food and clear up after themselves. There was always a salad option and a couple of main course options each time, all perfectly acceptable. The staff were efficient and friendly, coping admirably with the swarms of British school children.

Can't say I noticed anything wrong with the toilet paper and we had no problem with flies even though it was very hot. There were shutters on the doors to the balconies which seemed to keep the bugs out. Don't let some of the other reviews on Trip Advisor put you off if you're on a school trip - we were very happy with our stay.

From the outside the hotel looks like a wonderful escape to paradise, with the river gleaming in the background and the lovely flower pots situated across the land. However, looks are deceiving. This hotel is Rubbish! After entering the main "hotel", you get the lovely aroma of Wee and cigarettes. After Being glared at by two freaky old german twins, we had to go up a stairs which were a perilous fire hazard. Our room was minusule and obviously was meant fot 2 people, but they added two extra "beds" in. The beds, if you can call them that, were just a mattress on the floor with what looks like curtains as duvets. The hotel is populated with fake flowers, dust and a horrible aroma, proberly coming from the food. The food was dog meat infested with hair and fat, lacking any nutritional values. Nobody wanted to eat. However, we were forced to due to a stern man checking our plates. While we were away, the hotel broke into our rooms and "cleaned up" by throwing our belongings under the bed. Dont get me wrong boppard is lovely, the hotel however was a different matter. BEWARE OF THE TWINS!

I stayed here on a school trip as a pupil. when we arrived we were shown to our rooms. apparently they have a new manager, who seemed to be much more pleasant than said in other reviews. the toilet paper was true to it's reputation; sandpaper-like and brown... (luckily we had been prepared and brought normal rolls). overall, the rooms were great and views good too. the food however was not. the soup (as mentioned in other comments) tasted like flavoured salty water, and the main courses each night were often left untouched. chips were ridiculously salty. only plus is they had chocolate spread for breakfast. :)
i would recommend this to others looking for accommodation on school trips, but not for a holiday.

Room Tip: It's a good idea to choose a bedroom with river facing views, even though you face the railway t...

I have recently returned from a school trip in Rhineland, where we stayed at this hotel. If, like me, you are going to this hotel, on a school trip, or for a holiday, and read these reviews posted you feel quite worried or anxious about this hotel- I certainly did. Having visited this hotel I feel it necessary to write a good review. The hotel was warm, comfortable and clean, and that is all you can ask for. The toilet roll myth is untrue- I bought my own and it was totally unnecessary. We had a super view over the Rhine (although we couldn't open the windows if our room got too hot due to the flies) and the beds were firm and comfortable. The shower was easy to use and nice and hot. The food was simple and a buffet (I don't know where powdered soup came from- it was delicious) and mainly consisted of chips and a meat substance. I am vegitarian and there was lots to choose from and one night we had ice cream. The owner was actually lovely, polite and informative and overall I had a great stay. If you are going on a school trip to this hotel, please do not worry- it is a perfectly decent hotel.

Room Tip: Do not choose a room on the train side, get on the river side

For anyone who is going on a school trip and reads the majority of these reviews, ignore them. They are completely wrong! The food is average but certainly not bad! The rooms are fine, the beds are relatively comfortable! Yes, the toilet roll is a bit dodgy, but bring your own! Greta wasn't too bad, as long as you didn't try to annoy her. I think the biggest problem here is that most students are expecting the Ritz, and then when they don't get it, aren't happy.

Similar comments to my review from last year. Second year we have gone to this hotel (with 68 year 11 students and 8 teachers). Food all fine, rooms all good and even toilet roll not bad. Greta was more calmer with us this year as she knew us from last year. The pupils and the staff all agreed that we had a wonderful 5 day trip. The location for this trip is superb.
I really can't understand the terrible reviews although maybe going in late October helps as it is only us there which may help.

See you next year.

This is not a hotel, its a hostel. Its food is processed, soggy and served to you by staff who if you refuse something mutter in german about you. We had soup for starters every night, this was bland and for desert fruit salad, i found several hairs in mine. At around ten pm me and my friends were still awake when we heard knocking from the hotels owner, she was yelling at us to go to sleep! I personally feel this is rude and i wouldn't expect it from even a one star hotel. Our room's facilitys where poor, with a terrible TV, the worst shower i have ever been in and sandpaper toilet roll it wasn't very pleasant. Our view was of the incredibly noisy train track opposite the hotel but in general the scenery is beautiful. Overall i would never stay in this crap 'hotel' again.
