“Very quiet place located close to everything”
Reviewed 23 March 2014 via mobile

First off mr pruem is a lovely gut and his personal touch makes the stay very enjoyable. The rooms are very spacious. This is more if a guest house where there is only a reception from 9-5 but they have loads of brochures to make finding things easy. They are located on the heart of the wine making country and only 10 mins drive to bernkastel kues. We loved the large living space and private feel of the place despite there being no hotel services. In reality it was a very easy and very relaxing stay so once we got settled time flew by and we enjoyed our stay a lot. Definitely worth going.

Fantastic!
We flew in from Australia and drove straight from the airport to Bernkasel, well Whelan really and it was the perfect place to start our honeymoon.
Really lovely family in a nice quiet spot away from the tourist rush.
The view is amazing and being in the wine industry ourselves, we were absolutly fascinated by how anyone without super powers could possibly work those steep vineyards.
Much to our delight we were treated to a private tasting of Potuguees wines made by a visiting winemaker Miguel, wow, what a treat!
Then to taste a number of different Rieslings that really express the terroir, the difference was incredible. A tour to the cellar with cellarmaster Michael helped to explain all and gave us a fantastic insight into Mosel winemaking.
Thank you, we will return, hopefully during harvest.

This was one of the nicest places we have ever visited. Period! It's away from the tourist crush of the adjacent towns - and I'm talking bus loads and bus loads - and peaceful on the banks of the Mosel. It can be tricky to find so don't dispair. A GPS is handy.
The room was very nice and a large bathroom ensuite. Very quiet at night. Our room's windows opened onto the vineyard's vines, one could almost touch them. The breakfast was formally set with colorful china and a wide range of gastronomical opportunities.
Dinner must be off premise and reservations, wherever one decides, are highly recommended. We were there on a national holiday and had to try four restaurants to get a seating,
Landhaus Pruem is one of those places that one regrets not being able to stay longer. I wish we had.

We've just had a superb four night stay in this Bed and Breakfast in the Mosel region. As keen walkers we loved the fact that we could walk along the tow path to Bernkastel, enjoy a meal, then walk back again the evening sunlight. We also stayed in Room 7 - a great room. Everyone was really friendly and welcoming. Breakfasts were varied slightly each day and were delicious.

We spent 2 night during a Mossel and Rhine circuit. Beatiful setting. Rooms with ample space and nicely decorated. Good beakfast, that you can enjoy in the terrace facing the river. The hotel is not located in Bernkastel-Kues, as stated, but in Whelen, a small village 3 km away from B-K. Anyway, you can find there a couple of places for diner. We didn't have time to enjoy the wine tasting offerd by the hotel (they are wine-producers) becaouse it is at 16h... :-(
In conclusion, a good option, specially if you like biking.

Room Tip: I got a rrom in the baselevel. Maybe first floor is nicer.

Stayed for 5 nights in Room 7- a lovely large room with high vaulted ceiling looking out over the vineyards and the Mosel.Even the big bathroom had a view. Both rooms had large windows which opened fully to let the breeze blow through. There was a free standing fan provided which helped on the really hot days.Everything was excellent though it would be nice to have tea/coffee making facilities available in the room. Breakfasts were a delight- great choice and quality of food and eaten on the wonderful terrace of the main house overlooking the Mosel and the vineyards- perfect. There was a full chiller of Pruem wine on the landing near the rooms so no need to go shopping and it was the perfect temperature- prfect to drink while relaxing on a sun lounger in the garden after a days walking or sight seeing. All the staff are most helpful and we were invited with other guests to join Herr Pruem and his wife to a glass of wine on the terrace one evening.Wehlen is a good location being quiet yet with a boat stop 100 metres from the hotel and easy walking distance from Bernkastel-Kues. A few retaurants in Wehlen within a short walk - try Hotel Heuth run by 2 sisters- the cooking is good and its nice to drink but not drive.Safe car parking in the grounds. There is a public swimming pool a short walkaway. A great experience at this lovely place. Will recommend it to friends and family.

Room Tip: Book a superior room. Room 7 is great.

We enjoyed 4 days in this lovely setting. The room and bathroom were large and beautiful with a view to the Mosel and the vineyards. We were greeted with a plate of cheeses and fruit - a delightful welcome after our drive. The staff and owner are most friendly and helpful and will share restaurant ideas in the area, since only breakfast is served each day. We were fortunate to be visiting when wines were being bottled which added to our wine experiences.

This is a convenient location for those who love to bike and good for day trips to Burg Eltz and Cologne (do make at least one drive all along the beautiful Mosel from these areas), plus enjoy a leisurely morning or afternoon walking Bernkastel. Of course, book some wine tastings with wine makers of the area including the wonderful wines of the Pruems.

Room Tip: This is also a wonderful area for biking along the Mosel River and tasting the many lovely wines of...
