“Excellent location & food, historic building, but small old-fashioned rooms. Town centre noise.”
Reviewed 10 September 2011

We enjoyed staying here, it's a beautiful location and a well-run hotel, but I didn't get the best sleep due to noise from restaurants, bars and traffic.

Positives -

- Location on Mosel promenade at Cochem, which is the most scenic and popular riverside location. Beautiful river view from the restaurant and (more expensive) rooms at front.
- Historical old building, full of character.
- Central location - next to the landing stages for river cruises.
- Central location - next to all the bars ,restaurants and shops.
- Friendly, helpful multi-lingual staff.
- Excellent breakfast.
- Clean rooms and public areas.
- 15 to 20 minutes walk from the railway station, or a 2 minute taxi ride if you prefer.

Negatives -

- Small rooms.
- Rooms are in need of some updating - no safe, no air conditioning, decoration is a bit tired.
- Central location means you hear the noise of bars and restaurants at night, plus cars and riverside visitors in the day. No air conditioning, so you may have to choose between being too hot or hearing noise in the summer months.
- As with all the riverfront properties, the hotel begins on the first floor for flood-protection reasons. This means there are a lot of stairs to be negotiated. However, if you look at the high-water marks recorded on several Cochem buildings, you will see why this is necessary!

If you want an authentic historic property, with great food and wonderful views, adjacent to the boat jetties and restaurants in the middle of the Mosel promenade, this is a good hotel for you. However, if you'd prefer somewhere quieter away from the crowds, with larger rooms and more equipment, I recommend Pension Lange instead.

We stayed at Hotel Noss for one night (19 July 08) in a double room for EUR 95 including breakfast. We had to book by calling the hotel as we couldn't find any internet booking for this hotel but that's not a big deal.

The room was small and the bathroom dated but it was clean and the bed was comfy. The pillows were filled with down or something like it and were way too soft but otherwise it was all good.

The breakfast was typical European brekky with lots of cheese and meat though there was a couple of different cereals on offer.
The location was brilliant right on the river and gorgeous views. The service was lovely. It was a bit of a rabbit warren to get to our room on the third floor by the stairs but there was a lift that made it a little more direct and quicker.

my partner and i have just stayed at this hotel or 6 nights and it was way above our expectations. we paid extra for a river view with balcony and it was well worth the extra money. the room was light , clean and spacious and a very comfortable bed. the staff were very helpful and friendly. breakfast was included and was excellent. on 2 nights we ate at the hotel. they had an extensive menu and the food was well priced and of a high quality. we would definately stay here again and we would reccommend it to others.

We stayed at the guest house of the Hotel Noss recently and found it to be neat and clean but horribly small. Our room was located just above street level and you could hear the cars all night.

I stayed at the Noss in July, 2005 (my third time in Cochem), and found the single room to be much too small, with an incredibly cramped bathroom. I tried to get a double, but they were booked.

The buffet breakfast is outstanding.

The staff were nice and friendly, but there was a problem with security. There was a noisy and drunk guest, but the staff goes off duty at night. There is absolutely no one on duty to see. This is not good.

I definitely will not stay here again, and strongly suggest not to get a single room.
