“Simply great...”
Reviewed 29 July 2013

As regular visitors here for over ten years we continue to be impressed by the sheer consistency of the experience beit in reception, restaurant, or domestic. The staff all speak English which is helpful. Our room overlooked the harbour which provides a great spectacle all day long. We came in July this year to attend a performance of the Magic Flute at the Bregenze Festival. As always the restaurant excelled with its dinner menu and great breakfast buffet. The Zeppelin Museum at Friedrichshafen has also been updated with many more dual language exhibits. The outdoor pool was a great way of cooling down from the summer heat. Lindau is a great place to visit and here is a great place to stay.

Room Tip: A room overlooking the harbour is worth the extra cost.

Superb location overlooking the harbour and Lake. Took a bit of finding due to one way system but there is secure car parking a short walk from the hotel.
The room was very good with a balcony overlooking the lake which was great for people watching and catching the sun.
Breakfast was good and the meal we had in the restaurant on the first night was also good value.
Would recommend.

Room Tip: ask for a room overlooking the lake

We wanted great scenery and Lindau did not disappoint.
Location: Walking distance from station.
Staff: Friendly
Food: Very good.
Room: Excellent and the chocolates are wonderful.
You can rent bicycles just outside the main entrance of the hotel. The bike trail goes along the shores of Lake Constance - stop at Bregenz for an ice-cream.

Room Tip: Loud noises from outside our room till 3 o'clock in the morning.

Very well managed and maintained hotel. We paid a small premium for a lake view room and it was worth it. Great view and nice porch on which to relax and watch the beautiful scenery (Swiss Alps in the distance), and action in front of the hotel.

Room was large, very quiet at night (facing the small harbor where nothing was going on after about 10 pm), very clean, with excellent shower. Only serious negative was the bed, which was hard as a rock. If the bed were more comfortable this would be a great hotel, but I mark down heavily for an uncomfortable bed, no matter how good the rest of the hotel.

We had an excellent dinner, taking the recommended special of the evening, spargel and perch, which was well prepared. Service was excellent. Next morning enjoyed an outstanding breakfast buffet. Wonderful breads, good selection of cheeses (including tasty blue cheeses), sliced veggies, and better quality pastries. And more excellent service. So it was only the hard bed that prevented this from being 5 stars.

Room Tip: Lake view room with porch is very nice.

We stayed 3 nights at the Hotel Reutemann located literally a 5-minute walk from the train station. The reception staff is friendly, knowledgeable and well organized. Our room overlooking the harbour Lion and Lighthouse was immaculate. The bathroom was bright and spotless with more than enough towels, soaps and shampoos. The beds and linens are first class. The pool on the front side of the hotel is extremely clean and well maintained. Breakfast, included with the room, is a white tablecloth affair and the breakfast room staff is beyond reproach. (A female overseer makes sure the young female servers are attentive to every possible detail.) The sauna is hot and a great way to unwind at the end of the day; however, locating the sauna in the maze of hallways is a bit of a challenge. More signage on how to get there, please! Loved this hotel.

Room Tip: Request a room facing the harbour.

We took our group to Lindau this past July. Having never been there (although I have heard about it for years from my parents), I was anxious to finally enjoy Lindau. The island did not disappoint, and neither did the hotel.

The check-in staff were perfect - everything was ready ahead of time, beautifully-organized. The staff sent a small van to pick up our bags, since the hotel is accessed by a pedestrian-only street. The hotel is actually a collaboration of 2 hotels, the other is the Seegarten. Both of the hotels received great comments from our tour members. The only drawback was having to figure out how to get from the Seegarten to the Reutemann, especially after a long day of bus travel. Once you figure it out and have deposited your 'stuff', it's easy.

The group dinner was outside - a perfect environment. The food and wine was superb, and the serving staff exactly what you would expect from a nice hotel n Germany. In addition, breakfast was great - LOTS of choices, and they allowed for eating outside if desired.

The room was quite large and VERY nice decorations and design, and the bathroom was also large. Everything was immaculately clean, as you would expect. All of the amenities are provided, including wi-fi or wired if you prefer.

However, the Reutemann (at least our room and rooms of our members) does NOT have air conditioning. It was not too warm outside - pleasant - but, a bit muggy. We lucked out with great weather the entire trip, but I cannot imagine what the hotel is like during a heat wave. They do have ceiling fans which helped a bit, but the muggy quality made for some difficult sleeping for some of our members.

The hotel is perfectly located on the waterfront, with a lovely view of Austria/Switzerland across the lake. It is also in the middle of Old Town, so whatever you prefer, you are close to all the island has to offer.

I will most likely bring groups here again, if we come this way-it would help if they installed a/c. Or, if our family decides to travel here, we'll probably stay here as well. It would probably be better (and safer) during April, May, or maybe September and October. These months are probably safer in avoiding any potential heat-related issues.

As I had booked this hotel via a consolidator, i was not expecting a great room, but i was very pleasantly surprised. Our double room was tastfully decorated, light, with a small balcony that had a side view of the harbour. Large clean bathroom and very comfortable bed. Excellent staff throughout the hotel, and parking closeby. There is an outdoor terrace which overlooks the harbour and is a perfect place to have cake and coffee, or a glass of wine to watch the world go by. The restaurant is a superb place for a romantic dinner, with excellent service from the staff and delcious seasonal food on the menu. Breakfast is also taken here, with the same excellent service, good slection of food and of course, a view over the harbour. I would not stay anywhere else in Lindau on a future visit.
