“Nice and Charmy”

Very Charmy hotel in the hart of Lindau.
Room is big and clean with all that you need. Free bottle of water. Free glue wine in the cafe down stairs - very nice! ;)
The location is just above the Christmas markets.
Personal friendly and helpful.
The hotel is on walking street. We have the parking reserved in the hotel which is just 5 min walk. But you can unload you bags just 30 meters off the hotel.
Sauna is available but we did not have time for it.

We stayed for two nights in late September, 2013, in Room 21, the Strawberry Room, which we thought was the best in the hotel. It's a relatively spacious room with its own balcony and an unobstructed view of the harbor. The room and bath were contemporary and scrupuously clean, and the bedding was comfortable. WiFi worked well. And Lindau is delightful.

At the height of the season it might be a bit noisy at night, but the insulated windows do a good job of blocking sound. We were not bothered at all.

Reserved parking, 400 meters away, is available from the hotel for 8 Euros a day and well worth it. Reserve when making reservations,. We were able to drive to the hotel to drop off our lluggage, by the way.

The breakfast, in its adjoining cafe, was an ample German buffet, meat, cheese, fruit, yogurt and various rolls, with soft-boiled eggs cooked to order. The hotel prices were surprisingly reasonable considering other options nearby.

We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

We booked this place about 3 days in advance in peak season and were lucky to get one of the massive rooms on the top floor. The staff were very helpful and helped with the luggage up the stairs. The carpark is short walk away but you can unload the luggage fairly close by. This hotel is right in amongst the main cafe's, restaurants and shops. Breakfast was really nice and Lindau is even nicer.

This is a small hotel run by very friendly people. Breakfast is available, at extra cost, in the cafe on the harbour front and is well worth it. The granola, yoghurt and fruit salad was especially nice. Bacon and eggs cooked on request. We had a lovely room, on the top floor looking out onto the harbour - the orange room. It was very spacious, clean, light and comfortable with a sofa and chair. There is no lift which was not a problem for us but worth noting if stairs are a problem.

Room Tip: This hotel is priced appropriately for its location. We chose to pay a higher price for the view fro...

I was in town for the fall 3-country marathon. I had the "cappuccino" room which had the terrace. It was wonderful. The view of the harbor was magnificent. The down blanket was toasty. The morning buffet was just fantastic--fresh rolls, a good variety of cold cuts and cheese, as well as yogurt, quark, rolls and fruit. And as mentioned by another reviewer, you could also request eggs made to order. But my highest praise is for the owner?/manager? (not sure what her title was), Michaela. She was so accommodating, helpful and friendly, she really made the stay great. Otherwise, the island of Lindau is really quite small; easily walkable. It's such a charming town. My friends and I couldn't speak highly enough about it.

Room Tip: The cappuccino room isn't huge, but has a terrace. The pistachio room is larger with a bathtub...

We had 2 nights here and loved it, even though it rained ! Our room (vanilla room) was on the 1st floor and looked over the harbour with its own large terrace. I suspect this could expose the room to a bit of noise in the high season, however we found it to be very quiet, especially with no traffic allowed nearby. We slept with the windows open which was very nice. Beds were typically firm but with large quilts and pillows. The room itself was large, light and airy, modern & clean; bathroom small but very nice.
Staff at reception were helpful and welcoming, everything was within a short walk, - we organised a carpark spot with the hotel in advance (recommended) which was also a short walk away.
The hotel only has 9 rooms so it has an intimate feel to it. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Overlook the harbour

I first visited this hotel in 2003 and had a room overlooking the harbour. It was wonderful and I have wanted to return ever since. Unfortunately we booked rather late and therfore got the 'Coffee Bean Room'. This is at the back of the hotel and you are sandwiched between 2 alleyways with only views of the bins and various hotel staff having a cigarette.
I think Hotel Schreier is probably the best value you will get on Lindau Harbour but ask for a room with a harbour view or failing that a Garden view.
Internally the room was nicely decorated - slight problems - there is a skylight with no curtain and the shower door is very difficult to work. It was clear that this was the last room they hire out as one of the wardrobes was full of pedal bins and plastic glasses.
I am still a fan of Hotel Schreier but the choice of room does make a significant difference to the level of enjoyment, which is why I have graded my stay as Average.
Staff were very pleasant particularly the breakfast waiter, and the breakfast buffet was nice and you can sit outside watching the harbour.
