I won`t be back to this hotel and I won't recomended to anyone I appreciated.
The explanation is provied by the list of "minus" and "plus" that follows.
In the negative side:
- Distance to the city: It is far away from the action, in the mainland, 20 minutes walking to the island. If you walk at night you'd probably won't meet anyone else on your way. Uneasy
- Location: It is right 8 meters opposite to the rail tracks. There is aprox 4 to 6 trains per hour from 8 am to midnight. And the noise goes directly to your room. Unnerving
- Room size: the smallest double I've ever been in. The don't have queen or king beds, just twins (80cm). You felt cramped within, as there is no space to move around. Mattress is bland and the pilows make you feel uncomfortable. Bad quality of sleep
- Bathroom: Matchbox. This is what I though when I seen it first. It is a box stuffed within the (small) room. It is aprox 80 cm width * 2 m long. Claustrophobic.
No even soap is provided. Only handwash. So be aware and bring your own stuff (not a great experience if you are travelling light around the lake i.e. by bike)
They don't change the bed linens not the towels. We statyed for several days, and one, purporsely we left the towels on the floor to make then changed. No lucky. The maid hang the same ones again. As they were. Amazing
- There is no elevator. You have to manage your way with your luggage without any help to the first or second floor. A good double flight of stairs between floors.
- There is only german speaking TV channels. So if you don't understand german language better not bother to swich on the set

In the "Plus" side:
- Breakfast. There is variety of hot and continental breakfast and fair quantity
- The souronding are very beautiful, with lots of opportunities to run, bike or practice nordic walking

We stumbled upon this hotel when arriving in Lindau for an evening and were looking for a hotel. Every hotel we tried was full, as were several guesthouses. After following signs in town to the hotel, we were fortunate enough to get one of their last two rooms. Our room was EUR75, and looked like it may have been a smaller single room with a double-bed. The manager did tell us they had bigger rooms for EUR85, but we chose to stick with the cheaper room as we found it of sufficient size for what we needed. The room had a nice sized LCD TV (which was a nice change from all the 15" TV's from our other hotels) and a minibar with reasonable prices. The room was very clean and looked very updated. The bathroom was a nice size as well.

Breakfast was nice, with a large spread of meats, cheese, fresh-baked bread, cereal, juice etc. Service at the hotel was great, everyone was very helpful.

We were able to hear the trains, but they seem to not run all night as we did not hear them once we went to sleep.

The hotel is a 10-15 minute walk to the island, which is a very nice walk and does not require you to walk to the "car" bridge - you walk on walking paths or cyclepaths near the traintracks.

Comparing this hotel to the ones we saw on the island, it was a no-brainer that this was MUCH better value.

I stayed here shortly after the hotel opened back up for the start of the Spring season and was very impressed by the staff. I'm not sure if it was the owner or the manager of the hotel but the man who helped me check in and deal with my car was wonderful. The bed I had was a bit on the short side (I'm 6'3") but not so much that I had trouble sleeping because of it. The biggest problem with this place is that it's right next to the train tracks and at least when I was there they seemed to run late at night and early in the morning. It's not like they shook the room or anything but if you're a light sleeper this could be an issue. It's a short walk to the island where the sightseeing is and the scenery along the way is very nice. Breakfast was fantastic with a great selection to pick from. The shower in my room was the kind that you have to hold the wand in your hand and move it where you want the water to go. I actually would like to go back since it was pouring down rain when I was there.

Just tucked away on the mainland, a 10 minute walk to the island. Clean, affordable, good service, try the bikes, they will arrange for them to be brought to the hotel. There is train noise but we got used to it, and it is certainly not a big issue.
The only problem I had was the breakfast, plenty to choose from, excellent breads etc, but they just could not get the hot food hot, I was always asking them to turn up the gas or make fresh, a minor irritation but they just could not get it.
On the whole a very satisfactory stay.

Turned out to be easy to locate if you read the map correctly. Essentially in a residential neighborhood. Train track adjacent to property, but with room location, could barely hear the slow-moving and quiet trains--the gate bell often made more noise. There may be rooms in which the sound may be more of a problem. Check first. Also told, rail traffic may subside next year (2008). Room and bathroom were quite large, clean, and amply furnished. Beds were very comfortable with good linens. Overall hotel was very clean and quiet. Easy and ample free street parking.

Breakfast was excellent. Buffet was more than plentiful and very tasty with eggs, sausage, rolls, cheeses, cold cuts, fresh fruits, juices, marmalades, cereals, and ample coffee. Staff was extremely helpful. Ate dinner on the island.

Short drive or a possible walk to the main street and mainland town. Could drive to the Lindau Insel, but was more fun to walk--and the walk was not long (15-20 minutes depending on scenic stops and train traffic--crossing gated tracks--nobody ever walked around the gates). Plus you didn't have to worry about Insel parking. The paved walkway was shared by many bike riders. Walk was very scenic through a residential area, then along the tracks and waterway. The track view was blocked by hedges. Walkway was lined with trees and benches. Walkway entered the island by the train station. From there, it was always total enjoyment and relaxation. Plenty of areas to eat at and sit. Walkway was somewhat lighted after dark, but a flashlight may be more comfortable. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes.

Easy drive to and from autobahn.

The hotel was lovely. Small but adequate room, including mini bar and TV. Very clean throughout the hotel

In an excellent location, easy ten minute walk from the station.

The breakfast was amazing, wonderful selection. Tonnes of fruit, breads, cereals, juices, preserves, cheeses, cooked meats..... even sausage bacon and egg. I'd say the best hotel breakfast I've ever had!

Would go back without a doubt! Brilliant value at 75 euro for 2 people for one night!
