We could not have been more impressed with the food at Steig Brewery-Hotel. Our only disappointment was that the hotel was booked for the night, so we had to stay elsewhere.
One of us is gluten and dairy intolerant. The waitress took this concern to the chef, who personally came over to speak with us about the diner's dietary needs. He assured us that it was absolutely no problem, that such things are a concern these days, etc etc. He asked a few questions about what kind of food she would like to eat, and again assured her, no problem.
It's always nice to be able to dine without anxiety about getting sick, but this chef went above and beyond the usual meat-and-steamed-veggies formula we're used to. He created a wonderful dish, perfectly cooked steak and a fantastic, spicy-tangy sauce laden with vegetables. Everything we were served was executed with the panache of a professional who really knows how to cook. And we're discriminating diners.
The decor was semi-rustic but with a modern feel - clean and cozy, not pretentious. I don't recall the prices, but I remember it being entirely reasonable - a deal, really, considering the quality of the food.
Also, the beer and wine were delicious! ;)
