Luxury at a very reasonable price. Friendly helpful staff especially in the bar and restaurant. Comfortably furnished. This hotel is very close to the restaurant strip and most of the attractions. Good internet and a great breakfast with lots of variety.

My wife and I stayed there in November 2012 for one night only, arriving early midday by train. We found a charming staff and a modern but cosy atmosphere. The location is perfect, the price okay (we stayed in one of the smaller rooms in the basement), just a few hundred meters to the train station and the picturesque harbour (and the Theodor Storm house), also the town centre. We didn’t miss a mini bar in the room, the well stuffed bar is open all night. We tried the local “Korn” (the typical German wheat or rye brandy). Indeed the bar man was a jewel, talkative and polite, quick and amiable. There was no locker in the room as well, but you might hand over your valet to the receptionist. The almost clean and perfect spa area in the cellar was brand new. We enjoyed great tranquillity. Only a pool was missing, maybe. You got your own bag and some clips to mark your bathrobe and towels. The breakfast was gorgeous by any international standards; even the scrambled eggs were well done. I would like to remark the great variety of different fish salads, a local highlight. Talking to the female owner we realized why this house has a special warm hearted atmosphere. When we left the next morning the receptionist presented me smiling and to my big surprise the poster of my play reading I have had the previous evening.

Rooms are clean but quite tiny, which is normal in Europe. Windows are not covered by curtains, there is only one-layer which covers window completely, so you cannot see thru at all. Every room has small balcony, which is really nice. No kettle in the room, but breakfasts are normally incl. in the rate. Buffet has good variety, lots of different teas to choose from. Unfrotunately they are not too good in preparing scrambled eggs... Bar is opened 24h - good stuff! From every window you have lovely view over wind-turbine which are scattered around all the Husum area.

Next to the inner harbor and inner city, unusually providing free parking. Room a little bit on the small side. Strangely, there was a window from the bathroom into the room (or vice versa) with no possibility of shutting off. Very little personnel: One trainee had to do reception, take calls and run the bar. Reception closed at 10 p.m. Rooms very modern and clean. Breakfast had all the usual, even freshly made eggs (and scrambled egg is made from real egg).

Room Tip: Rooms to front fine since little traffic

Staying at the Thomas Hotel in Husum was a surprisingly pleasant stop on a long drive north towards Denmark. Arriving in Husum prior to the start of the tourist season meant that all hotels had availability, but interestingly were all charging the same prices - we chose the Thomas based on the exterior appearance, the newly renovated dining room and rooms and the super-friendly staff. And we were not disappointed. For the price we paid, we got excellent value - a huge room with a sitting area, decent (although small) flat-screen tv and a great buffet breakfast. Bathroom was nothing special but more than adequate. Bedroom decor was simple, with comfortable beds.
Breakfast was the typical german buffet but they had wide choices of everything and replenished anything that was running low. Lovely decor in the dining room.
Particular note has to be made of the staff - the bar-man/receptionist who was on duty that night was one of the most helpful and pleasant hotel staff I have encountered in Germany, and his colleagues working the following morning were close behind him.
All in all, made for a great stay and if I was staying in the Husum area for a longer time, a holiday at the Thomas would be a good experience.

My wife and I have stayed in this hotel many times mostly for long weekends. It is beautifully located close to the inner harbour. The rooms have been renovated recently and many offer a view of the harbour. The breakfast is very nice but with a limited selection.

The popularity of this hotel is reflected by the fact that it is often difficult to get a room during holiday periods.

PS: I have stayed in most of the other Husum hotels listed here and the Thomas hotel definitely offers the best value. I do not understand why it listed as a B&B. It is a full service hotel like the rest on the list.
