This place was just what we needed to get over the flights.
Peace , quiet, and wonderful scenery with virtually no traffic. The "more or less apartment" with bedroom with en suite H&C: a lounge area, very convenient for sitting in the evenings when the bugs are about: and an outside seating area looking out onto the garden and across the valley. The meals were excellent Sri Lankan, as requested.
While we there it was a Poya (Full Moon) day, Nayomi and her dad invited to attend the local temple where it was their turn to give the alms food, which we helped to distribute. We also had the opportunity to be shown around the temple by the head monk. Altogether a great experience. We will return. Thanks for a lovely relaxing start to our holiday.
We were due to stay at Bogala Eco Resort(see other review) but baled out as it was a building site. We phoned Nayomi who speaking excellent English promised to come and fetch us. She and her father drove for over 40minutes to do so and took us back to their family home near Kegalle. We stayed 3 nights and loved it. The family could not be more welcoming - we sat and watched the England v Italy 6 Nations rugby match with Nayomis Dad on their large screen TV. Their dog Cola is friendly, gentle and well-behaved. Nayomi cooked for us in the evening and served breakfast every morning asking what sort of food we liked and tailoring the meal accordingly. We visited Kandy from here, travelling on the regular bus which took about an hour. They turned a very sour experience into something warm. If you want to experience Sri Lanka this is the best way to do it.
