Situated in a spectacular Swiss Alp location at 2048m. Hotel offers nice rooms with very comfy beds. Restaurant serves great Swiss food. Stunning Scenery is in every direction. The train journey up from Andermatt is beautiful.

We had booked the 6-bed family room long in advance, assuming it would have its own bathroom. In the booking confirmation, nothing indicated that it would be a bathroom and toilet shared with 5 other rooms on the top floor (stairs only). That fact is only mentioned elsewhere on the website. I think it should at least be explicitly mentioned at the time of booking. There's an extra shared bathroom one floor below, but both can be occupied long - shower and toilet are in one and the same room.

Now, of course, staying on top of a rather remote mountain pass you don't expect urban luxury. The facilities are well kept and clean, the room was nice (not easy to cool in summer, though, even at this altitude), the beds okay (not great). There are lots of hiking possibilities right from the doorstep, staff was very helpful and despite bad weather, we really enjoyed our stay here.

The breakfast is very nice, with a wide variety of Swiss breakfast options - don't expect eggs and bacon.

We had dinner twice. The food is nice but not of a high culinary standard, lots of heavy mountain style dishes with lots of potatoes and cheese of course. The price, converted to Euros, is simply ridiculous at current (Summer 2014) exchange rates, but that's of course not the owners' fault. For those arriving by car, check out other options down in Andermatt as well.

Overall, I don't think we would have selected this knowing about the shared bathroom. Being confronted with it, we went ahead, and it wasn't too bad, but just be aware of this. Also budget well, Switzerland is extremely expensive.

Room Tip: views are excellent in any direction, of course!

Upon arrival we were told that there was a problem with the bathroom on our en suite room and there was not another to offer us. They offered us a room without a bathroom with a 20 Swiss Franc reduction. Because it was so late and given the remoteness of the location we decided to stay. The room was small and very basic. There was nowhere to hang clothes; the one bedside table lamp didn't work. The curtains were too short for the window and the hot water in the bathroom took an age to come through.
We ate at the hotel and the food was okay.
The one thing that this place has going for it is the view which is spectacular.
We would not go back under any circumstances.

This hotel sits at the top of the Oberalppass at 2046 meters. It is right on the road and the train stops directly under it, however, there is almost no traffic and there are only about 5 trains a day. It is a spectacular location sitting on the shore of small mountain lake with mountains going straight up on two sides. There are hundreds of hiking trails right outside the door. There is nothing fancy about the accommodation, but the rooms are clean, the beds were comfortable, and the loudest sound from our window was the waterfall in the distance. I slept like a baby!
The breakfast that was included in our room price was basic- no eggs etc, however the loaf of bread was the best that Switzerland has to offer and that alone made it gourmet.
The manager Christopher and the waitress Suzanne were supper friendly and accommodating.
I can't wait to take my whole family there.

We stayed at the Piz Calmot to celebrate a birthday. Well everything about it was truly wonderful. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and provided an excellent service. The atmosphere was very relaxed and welcoming. The food was great we could not have asked for better. The location of Piz Calmot was amazing with beautiful views and scenery, ideal for walking or biking or just chilling out. The prices for the accommodation the food and drinks were very reasonable. Would definitely recommend Piz Calmot as a great place to stay.

I have never before written a review, however after staying at Piz Calmot this has all changed. I am an English person who lives in Switzerland and throughout my time here I have travelled to a lot of different places in Switzerland and I can honestly say there is no place I have stayed in that compares to Piz Calmot. As soon as I walked through the doors I was greeted with warmth and friendliness, and after my two nights I was here I did not want to leave. The food was exceptional, Dino, the head chef, provided us with exquisite food and service, that compared to any top restaurant i have visited in any country. Myself and my boyfriend went on a motorbike tour through the alps and decided to stop off here as we had heard a lot of good reccomendations from friends and we are so glad we did. It is a beautiful setting, with lots of lovely routes to hike and bike in the summer, and Everybody was so welcoming and friendly. If you want wonderful service and staff, delicious food, a beautiful location, and great value for money, then this is the place to visit. Thank you Piz Calmot!
