Fantastic holiday with this company - stayed in two hotels this one is rated 3 star and is what you would expect from a small family run hotel. Rooms very clean and comfortable and tea/coffe making in the room which is very unusual in Europe. Breakfast was continental syle and evening meal 3 courses but not much choice of main course. Very convenient location as it is opposite the train station we travelled on the Glacier Express while we were there.

Room Tip: we had a balcony room in the old part of the hotel overlooking the station and the mountains

Stayed here as part of Riviera tour. Excellent location for visiting Zermatt, Montreau,Lake Geneva, Glasier Express and Bernina Express. Hotel is in the town opposite the railway station. Hubby is train fanatic and enjoyed watching trains from our balcony. Did not find it too noisy, did not disturb sleep for us but some couples did say they found it noisy. Rooms are adequate, beds comfy and rooms clean. Did not like the throw away cups for the tea in the room. Bathroom could have done with a little tlc on the decor, but overall room was fine. Evening meals were excellent. Choice of meat or fish dish as a main course. Came around with extra helping which was good. Breakfast was continental and fairly basic but adequate. Staff were very friendly, always happy to help. All in all, enjoyed our stay.

The convenience of the location is a major factor in recommending this hotel. Yes, it is faded but the food is OK (the sauces were particularly good enlivening their salads and meat and fish). There are, unusually for European hotels, tea and coffee making facilities in the room which I find to be a major bonus. The railway station itself is just across the road so it is very handy for the Glacier Express. And the shop in the station sells everything you could need at a reasonable price including freshly made sandwiches. Open on a Sunday as well!
As a single traveller I was put in a small room at the back of the hotel with a view of a car park and a flat roof (202) - although that may have been a bonus as there was certainly no noise from the trains!

We stayed here recently with Riviera Travel and found most of the reviews to be accurate. It is an old hotel, a littled faded and noisy, being opposite the railway station, but it does have redeeming features. Number 1 is the food which is excellent. You get a choice of meat or fish with some exquisite sauces, a healthy salad type starter or soup and very nice desert. Vegetarians and diabetics were catered for and the continental breakfast choice perfectly adequate (with the best croissants I have tasted in a long while). Service was a little slow in the evening but the staff were friendly and pleasant. The bedrooms were fine, with wider than normal single beds pushed together and an adequate bathroom with excellent shower over the bath. It was 30C when we were there and we did find the room too hot at night and we could hear some noise from the trains.

Brig is an excellent centre for touring this area and the town itself is well worth exploring. Take the Noddy train tour for 5F to see the highlights and go back on foot. The old town of Naters across the River Rhone is well worth exploring if you are interested in traditional Swiss houses and there are plenty of nice bars and shops in Brig itself and of course an impressive castle.

The Victoria is a convenient place to stay but make sure you get a room at the back.

Located opposite the SBB & MGB stations. Very clean. Friendly staff. Good buffet-breakfast attended by helpful staff. Large covered veranda- a pleasnt place to enjoy a beer after a day's sightseeing. Have stayed here many times before. Will return in 2014.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the stations can be a bit noisy as the MGB trains run across the SBB station approach...

Conveniently sited by the SBB and MGB railway stations, the Victoria is a comfortable family-run business offering good accommodation and food, ideal for a Riviera Travel tour.

The hotel is geared up for short-stay tours utilising the excellent railway connections so please do not expect a five-star luxury hotel. There is a lovely town to explore and plenty of alternative eating places, apart from the handy bar and restaurant that the 'Victoria' offers to all, resident or not. Staff are pleasant and helpful. Lift is small so climbing stairs to rooms, including the first floor breakfast room, is the usual practice.

Visited this hotel as part of a large group with Rivieria travel and being last off the coach found myself standing on the pavement with my suitcases in the rain because the hotel reception was no more than a corridor, there was one small lift (2 people with cases only) so checking in was a nightmare. This Hotel was obviously not designed for large group travel.
Our room was at the rear with a very small bathroom, however other people on the trip seemed to far better so the rooms must vary in size depending on your luck. The bed was not a double but two singles to pushed together and the pillow was the worst ever( however same in next hotel so maybe a Swiss thing).
Some ealier reviewers see to have had problems with the meals and while the breakfast was very basic the evening meals were excellent, well presented and good quality food well cooked, all be it with rather slow service, it really is the only redeeming feature of the hotel
As Brig is a very nondescript town with little of interest to see so the only reason for staying here would be as a base to travel by rail to Zermatt, Chur etc or catch the 'Glacier express'.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are smaller but quieter
