Champery has several good restaurants, but the Auberge is still something special, with a varied menu that's uniformly excellent despite its variety. The tagine is particularly notable, and the dessert that gives you a selection of several different sweets is divine. The atmosphere is warm, lots of wood, and the hosts, Chuck and Juliet, are first class.
On a sunny day the outside terrace is great - and in the winter, you can ski down to it.
