The bronze statue is somewhat underwhelming and the location isn't really so amazing. You would probably walk by it without realizing what it was if you didn't know to look. A lot of people were more distracted by the giant fork in the lake, which is right by the statue. Having said that, the statue itself is an interesting piece of art. Definitely not as popular as the one of Freddie Mercury in Montreux, but it's still nice to see. The only reason my wife and I went to Vevey was because our hotel booking in Montreux came with a free transport card. I would not suggest making a special trip just to see the statue.
