Owner description: For over 30 years already, the world's first-ever food-themed museum has been sharing a global and independent view of the many aspects of the human diet. Its multidisciplinary, cultural, historical, scientific and nutritional-focused approach and its bold and original programme of activities have established the Alimentarium as the world's leading food-themed attraction. As the centrepiece of the Museum, the new permanent exhibition "Food - The essence of life" invites children and adults alike to take a fresh look at an activity steeped in history and laden with emotional significance: eating. The unique new scenography, combining discovery, experimentation and learning, invites visitors on a fun-filled, interactive journey through three new sectors: Food, Society and The Body. Enlivened with projections, interactive terminals and video installations, this immersive experience will make visitors aware of the influence diet can have on the body and its environment.

“very poor museum”
Reviewed 12 March 2014

We went here in January 2014 and were very disappointed. You are charged for entrance into what is really a promotion for Nestle products and a very poor one at that. Very boring museum with very little in it and terrible effort on the part of Nestle! At the very least you would think you would get a few Nestle products to taste as part of the tour, nothing! There are a few displays of old Nestle products, some tired and outdated interactive displays, a café and a top floor that shows videos. Not worth the time or money.

“Fun for both children and adults”
Reviewed 17 January 2014

The museum was a positive experience, with things to do for both children and adults. The interactive part, where you for example could taste and smell different things, was really nice. And the more educational parts of the exhibition were also interesting and well made.

An interesting visit, interactive, you have the possibilities to make some small test,( like smelling perfumes and guess what smell it is ) some of the special exhibitions are very interesting, but the whole could be more original and surprising...

“Nice for children”
Reviewed 24 October 2013

The education on the benefits of eating well and sticking to the food pyramid are good. It is really geared for children. Some history of food is included. Cafe is open for only an hour and a half--disappointing.

“Need to train reception”
Reviewed 20 October 2013

First impressions are so important, and yet the reception at this museum leaves a bad memory as you enter the museum. Employees who can barely take the time to greet you, and who give the impression that they are not happy, and come across as rude.
The museum itself is well thought out and our 7 year old son enjoyed being able to interact with the various elements as we walked around. Worth a visit on a wet day in Vevey.
