Stayed here a few times in 2011 while house-hunting in the area. It's not 5star but neither are the prices. It does have stunning views of the lake (and sunrise), a great breakfast, and perfect location for the sights and better restaurants of Nyon. The ferry stops right outside the hotel and the train station is a 7-minute walk uphill. I wouldn't honeymoon here, but for a few nights, it's a great spot for exploring "la cote". Note: last Sunday each month (I believe) is the Nyon flea market - that would be a very noisy dawn outside the hotel. Food: right outside the door is Maitre Jacques and L'O, both great; a creperie right across the street is fab. Up the hill by the castle, you have the Auberge de Nyon, which is a also a good bet, as is Cafe du Marche a further block away from the castle. SUPERB gelato around the corner at "Venezia", and good expressos at Le Moulin. Anglos have a proper pub also just around the corner. Much more fun than staying in Geneva and traveling out of town each day!

A very traditional, totally non corporate hotel. Lovely ambience, decent size room overlooking the lake, all necessary amenities. Very good breakfast. Only downside is lack of decent internet connection - and what there is is expensive. Overall a professional and comfortable hotel in a lovely town.

It was the first time I stayed in this hotel which is often used by my colleagues and what a disappointment! The décor is very seventies with loads of sickly mustard-coloured paint, an abundance of kitsch paintings and sculptures, artificial flowers and plants.
My room was small but made smaller by the inclusion of two single beds in what was clearly intended as a single room and which made it virtually impossible to sit at the tiny desk to work. The lack of space means that instead of bedside tables there were only minute shelves each side of the beds. The furniture would have looked at home in a cheap provincial hotel in an eastern European country - and came complete with plastic hangers!
The bathroom was straight out of a 1970s Swiss apartment with bottom-of-the range fittings and no surface on which to put anything. It featured a wierd mirrored false ceiling which was marked all over with water splashes. The lighting was abysmal. The shower over the narrow bath was placed on the wall in such a way that it was impossible not to be entangled by the shower curtain (several of the hooks of which were broken). Shower curtains are just so unhygenic and disgusting. The lavatory was filthy round the flushing mechanism. The finishing touch was a hairdryer attached to to the inside of the over-sink cupboard which featured insufficient power and heat and lacked a nozzle - and would only work for 2 minutes at a time, followed by a 5 minute pause - it took me half an hour to dry my hair!
Nice to have a Nespresso machine in the room but what about those of us who prefer tea to coffee? The machine came with 3 capsules and I was told by a colleague who had used them that replacements could only be had for 1.5 Swiss francs each!!
Internet access costs an amazing 4 francs an hour in the room and 5 francs for 30 minutes to use the WLAN in the lobby! One has the impression that maximum advantage is taken of the fact that most guests are on business and there is little competition in the area. The Swiss hotel trade constantly complains that the strong franc disadvantages them but this sort of greed probably puts off more potential clients.
We ate one evening in the hotel restaurant, which is very crowded and cluttered with artifical plants and unnecessary 'decorative' objects. I was served a dish different to the one I had ordered and my neighbour's fillet steak (56 francs), came completely overcooked rather than medium as requested. He sent it back and the replacement came back so undercooked he couldn't eat it. Despite this there was no apology and certainly no reduction in the bill or even the offer of a free coffee! On the otherhand, the breakfast buffet, included in the room rate, was good, even if it included supermarket budget range yogourts.
Somebody seems to think that putting glossy magazines in the lobby featuring expensive watches and cars, next to another artificial plant, makes this a classy hotel! They couldn't be more wrong. I'd suggest a short trip to Basel to the Hotel Krafft to see what can be done with a similar building to create a truly memorable and pleasant experience.

The hotel is in a great spot. Close to train station, great restaurants and the ferry boat to France. Taxi to anywhere in town is about 15 CHF. Switzerland is the most expensive country in the EU so do not expect any deals here. The breakfast at the hotel was great. The service was excellent, and it was nice in the summer to eat in front of the lake with a cool breeze. The room was small (like all European hotels) but the AC was the best ever! When you check in they give you a remote control for the AC unit. It works as good as a US hotel. I will definably stay in this Hotel again for my next business trip to Nyon.

Room Tip: Ask for the room with the lake view

I stayed there for business on Jun, 28-29 and it was unfortunately terrible. The room is quite small, the hotel is old, the air conditioner in the room does not work (actually it works but it blows out hot air), there was a nespresso machine in other rooms but not mine (although I told them they did not put one), the wireless did not work and they had to come to my room after an hour to solve the problem, the breakfast is ok, the location is ok as well. If you are going for business, do not even consider to stay here.

I first stayed at Beau-Rivage Nyon some 7-8 years ago and it was terrible back then. Having checked their website last week where they talked about a renovation I was optimistic that things would actually be better this time.. They're not.

I'm here for 3 weeks and after night 1 already want to change hotels. The only trouble in Nyon is that there really are not many other choices. Geneva is a little too far to commute every day and the best hotels there run at over 600 CHF a night..

Ok - the room is 3/4 filled with a big, way to soft, double bed. Of the remaining 1/4 of the room 2/3 is filled by a table and wardrobe leaving very little room to get dressed in the morning. The bathroom is I'd guess just a shade smaller than a 2m squared box. The shower head is in the middle of the bath making a shower kind of hard. There is no real space to store any toiletries.

My room - 112 - is right over the main entrance facing the town and you hear the pub down the street until it closes. As it's also by the lift (elevator if you're from the US) you hear people come into the hotel in the evening and then get into the lift etc...

breakfast this morning - "can I please have the pancakes and maple syrup".
"I'm sorry, we don't have any maple syrup".

I'd not recommend this hotel to anyone.. Utter waste of money

And I'll be trying to ensure that this hotel comes off our list of company specific hotels...

We were upgraded upon arrival - the apartments are real spacious and ideal for business travellers (and potentially families) with a fully equiped kitchen, a master and smaller bedroom. The furniture is a bit outdated, but overall good.
The rooms are spotless clean, and the bed's been very big and comfy!
The hotel is charming though in an old fashioned way.

The downside is the breakfast - while overlooking the magnificent lake just across the street they do serve a quite boring breakfast option, close to disappointing.
There's a few egg dishes (takes a while to get them) and there only is a very minimal cold cut and cheese selection (one ham, one cheese). Overall you'd expect a more exquisite breakfast range at a place like that - also taking the steep price per night into consideration.
Also, the breakfast staff is a bit rough around the edges. But that's more or less the only downside. It's a very nice house located in the centre of Nyon.
