I stayed here for 5 nights over Christmas with my partner, and I was sad to leave. I absolutely loved my stay there, for many reasons. Hotel Allegra was located in the centre of this small village, many restaurants and shops were within a couple minutes walk, the slopes were behind the hotel itself!
The rooms were amazing - snow-capped mountains in view of our window, straight out of a postcard. The beds were very comfortable, the bathrooms were spacious, the floors were heated throughout the room. I was very surprised when I found out that the hotel had been open for 12 years because the rooms looked brand new, immaculate. They were obviously very well maintained. Perhaps one of the nicest touches was a plate of cookies and cakes and a card to greet us upon arrival, and one of the days we got a nicely wrapped plate of cookies again (maybe because it was Christmas).
The buffet breakfast is the best and most extensive I have ever seen. A large variety of freshly baked bread, with knives for you to slice what you wanted. Scrambled, soft and hard boiled eggs to order, Swiss sausages, pancakes, cold cuts of meat, cheeses, even smoked salmon! Lots of cereals, yogurts, fruits, and probably every spread you can think of. Beverages included tea, coffee, variety of juices, still and sparkling water...
The staff here were incredible, the reception staff were always very helpful to us and spoke fantastic English. They were kind enough to help us with organizing ski lessons over the phone since we only speak English. But I will never forget the managers, Daniel and Barbara. They were incredibly friendly, and what I love most was that they were both very involved - Daniel would be in the kitchen every morning, doing a lot of the cooking himself! He also picked us up and dropped us off at the train station which was very nice.
Included with this hotel was use of the spa which was joined to the hotel. Perhaps the best feature of this was their outdoor swimming pool. Yes, OUTDOOR swimming pool even though it was probably -5 degrees outside! It is probably one of the most amazing experiences I have had - swimming in a pool heated to a lovely 38 degrees whilst the air is crisp and it's actually snowing on your head whilst you're bathing in the beautifully heated water. Not to mention the panorama of the Swiss alps.
In summary, the hotel is fantastically designed and well maintained, and everything you would expect for a 4 star. The best part about it though, was the warm, friendly and home-style service. I would stay here again in a heart beat.
