“a wonderful stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 August 2014

what a wonderful host Marco is at the Hotel Alpenperle. He truly looked after us and made sure we had anything we needed. The hotel rooms are spacious and very comfortable. Breakfast had everything on offer and the sauna and jacuzzi were a perfect way to spend an afternoon when raining in Saas Fee. Thank you for having us.

Dear Emilie712,

thank you for taking the time to write a Review on our Hotel. I am glad you enjoyed yourself despite the weather and relaxed in our brand new jaccuzzi in our wellness area.

I have forwarded your kind comments to Marco and his wife which appreciate it as well.

We hope to welcome you back soon in Saas-Fee.

Sincerely,
Simone W

Saas fee is an expensive place to go. Accomodations, ski pass, ski rental is more than you pay in any other country or place. However it is all worth it.

We drove with our car from Amsterdam Holland to Saas Fee. It is highly recommendable to use the car train from Kandersteg. It is a fun experience and saves you time.

Once you arrive in Saas Fee you park your car on the edge of the village. The road to Saas Fee is quite dangerous, we were lucky it was not snowing at that time. The garage for a week is about 70/80€ I believe, quite expensive.

We called the hotel and got picked up with a small electric car. They drove us to hotel Alpenperle. You notice you are on the far end of the hotel. We checked in with Marco, the host of the hotel. A great guy who helped us with everything.

Do not hesitate to book this hotel. Rooms are spacious and clean. Daily housekeeping service is great. Breakfast a wide variety and good. If you do not want to pay the high price you pay in the heart of the centre but do want a fine hotel in one of the best skiing places of the world; this is it.

TIP: use the free shuttle busses to go to the ski slope or heart of the centre.

We arrived at Hotel Alpenperle to find the hotel dark with doors locked. There was a note on the door advising us to call a phone number to be let in, but as we were traveling internationally, we did not have a cell phone. We waited outside in the cold for almost an hour. Finally, we were let in by some girls who lived in the basement of the hotel. Once inside, we looked for a phone to call the owner....there was no phone, not even behind the hotel desk. We found our own room key and led ourselves up to the room. In the morning, we came downstairs at 8am to get the breakfast that was supposed to be included and to talk to the manager about our difficulties at check-in. The hotel was still dark and empty. There was no breakfast and still no one behind the desk. I believe that we were the only guests staying in the hotel that night, and the manager decided not to bother with breakfast or check-in/check-out customer service. We packed up and left the hotel without ever seeing a single employee.

Later that afternoon, I noticed that the hotel had charged my credit card the entire amount for the stay. I contacted the hotel via my credit card company to dispute this charge based on falsely advertised services, but the credit card company was unable to get in touch with anyone from the hotel. I also contacted Expedia, who said that the phone number of the hotel was not in service. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone traveling in Switzerland.

Dear Makobleiu2
I am sorry that your experience was not to your expectations. This Hotel has only two employees who do need a day off from time to time. So we contact all guests before arrival with all details on how to get to the Hotel, what time breakfast is served in our four star sister Hotel The Dom in the heart of Saas-Fee and how we can be reached 24 h for questions and transportation .
We have been going in the assumption that our guests do carry a mobile phone with them when travelling. Your case is the first we encounter where this is not the case. We however take your comments very seriously and have installed a land line at the front desk now which can be used by all guests to contact us 24h.

Kind regards,
Simone

We stayed at the Alpenperle for just a couple of nights, wish we could have stayed longer and will definitely be back! Very comfortable clean room, lovely balcony with amazing views. Beautiful location, not in village centre but this is a bonus for peace and quiet and the bus stop is right outside the hotel. Lovely breakfasts with enough variety, different hot dishes each day, complimentary coffee and soft drinks in the evening. This is at the top end of 3-Star, with Marco the manager making sure that every detail is covered. Thanks.

Room Tip: All the rooms have beautiful mountain views.

My husband and I have just returned from a week in Hotel Alpenperle in Saas Fee, and what an amazing holiday we've had. The breakfast was excellent and plentiful, ranging from cold meats, cheese, fresh bread, cereals, yoghurts, fruit as well as hot sausage, bacon, egg and omelette, and as much tea, coffee and cold drinks as you want - it really set you up for the day. The power shower in the room was phenomenal and eased aching bones :)
The room was large and airy with beautiful views from the balcony and immaculately clean. The hotel is not in the centre of town which we thought was a bonus, but only a short walk away.
Last but not least we have to thank Marco the hotel manager for making our holiday so special, he goes out of his way to make sure all his guests needs are catered for, we would recommend a stay here anytime. Thank you from Ken & Yvonne in Cheshire.

I stayed at Alpenperle Hotel in Feb 2014 with group of friends for a ski holiday. The hotel and rooms were clean, breakfast was good and service was great. Marco is very friendly and great for advising you on how to make the most of your time in Saas Fee, how to get around, weather forecasts etc. My only problem is that the hotel is about a 10 min walk outside of town, but that is offset by the fact that is is a nice walk with great views of the village and surrounding mountains. I recommend you try having dinner at least once at the Alp-Hitta restaurant which is around the corner. The same gentleman owns the restaurant and the hotel. You will recognise him as the one who entertains diners with his accordian. I recommend this hotel thoroughly.

Room Tip: all rooms have blacony or terrace but rooms on 3rd flooe have best views.

We stayed at the Alpenperle over Easter 2008.
The hotel is small and cute, and the restaurant, which also functions as reception, is excellent with super ecclectic decoration, even for Switzerland.
The room was huge with a beautiful view of the valley.
The decor is simple, but functional, and the room/bathroom was immaculately clean.
We were picked up at the bus station by the owner in his electric car. Saas Fee is car free, so the shuttle is necessary.
The only negative thing is that the location is a little far from the center of town and the skilifts.
There is a skibus, but it stops going at 17.30, so if you want to have a beer at the apres-ski, it makes for a long walk home. (25 mins with ski boots)
There are taxis, but they are hard to come by during high season.
Make sure to park the skis at the bottom of the slopes. You pay one CHF pr night pr pair of skis, and another franc if you want a locker for the ski boots as well. Quite a handy arrangement.

The price was reasonable for Saas Fee during Easter at CHF 140 pr night for two. Especially since most hotels have a policy that you need to book for an entire week in this period. We stayed 4 nights.
I would recommend this hotel, but just be prepared to walk to restaurants, shops or other places you wish to go.
PS be sure to check out the apres ski at Black Bull Snowbar! Excellent fun!
