We did a group night hike of the frozen Gorge Alpine between Saas-Fee and Saas-Grund. It was more thrilling than we expected. The frozen waterfalls at night were worth the hike, but the zip line rides and swings over the gorge were a total adrenaline rush! The ladders, hanging bridges and climbes on the rock faces got our hearts pumping, but all part of the adventure. It is a challenging 2 hours but we all felt safe with the equipment securing us to the steel ropes. No one in our group of all adults had technical climbing experience but our guide made us feel safe. He spoke enough english to provide instructions and he secured us on the zip lines as well as provided any needed advise for slightly technical areas. We would love to do this again, it was an unexpected highlight of our time in beautiful Saas-Fee!
The guides provided the harnesses for securing us to the steel ropes plus the helmets and headlamps. I would recommend talking to the guides before taking children on the hike. Several places along the hike were physically challenging to reach. Definitely would not recommend to anyone with a fear of heights, but highly recommend for anyone looking for a heart racing adventure!
