I kept waiting for Basil to appear. We arrived and the staff had only just arrived a few days before Xmas. All very pleasant but there was no supervision at all in the Dining Room. We were on half board but a brief summary is they ran out of eggs at breakfast twice, coffee one morning, we had to set our own table, insufficient seating arrangements for all guests, food served cold. We had Parma ham and melon one night without melon because they ran out so we had feta cheese instead. One night ran out of dessert. Obviously a case of poor catering management and inability to co-ordinate deliveries. All very embarrassing for the staff who took the brunt of the complaints as per norm.
Room was compact but always clean. If you are large, like I am then suggest you and your partner upgrade to a larger room as the double beds are cosy.
Furniture is like Verbier - antiquated. The rest of Europe has moved on and are offerring a 21st century service but Verbier stays ridgidly in the 70's. This was my 4th visit but sadly the Jewel in the Crown has fizzled out so no more visits for me and a lot of people I spoke too. I no longer do Quaint.
