“Great hotel but could do with a couple of improvements.”
Reviewed 24 April 2014

I am giving five stars mainly because of the excellent service provided by the manager and most of the staff. The views are great and so was our room, We had a Junior Suite with a mountain view. In spite of the fact that the hotel was full because of the Easter long weekend, it was blissfully quiet in our room, and we enjoyed relaxing on the balcony (as well as in the bath tub). The breakfast is fantastic in many ways: food wise, and the ambience and I loved the crockery so much so that I bought a plate to take back with me to give to my god child.

It is an easy walk to town, and we enjoyed the hiking paths that are easily accessed from the hotel. The train to Bretaye stops right by the hotel.

The minor negatives are that we were not happy with the service given by some of the staff during meals. We pointed this out to the manager who was positive about receiving the feedback. The table in our room was small and wobbly, and not suitable to be able to write anything. It could be that the room configuration may not have allowed a larger table. The water temperature in the pool could have been warmer, especially given that it is a spa area and not a regular swimming pool.

That being said, we would not hesitate to recommend this hotel, and we ourselves would certainly want to come again.

Room Tip: A mountain view room.

Our room was great, with view on the mountain, plenty of space and plenty of storage.
The staff is young and friendly but not very professional and not very good for recommending activities in the neighborhood (The guy from the rental ski shop was much better at that!!!!).
The restaurants are OK but the service is substandard for such a place...
I regretted that the fireplace by the pool was always off, and that it seems that the hotel was saving on these kind of things because we were a bit late on the winter season. That is bit disappointing.
Breakfast buffet is great, and I liked the driver that comes to pick you anytime anywhere.

This was my first time staying here. The hotel is set in beautiful surroundings, a real oasis of calm. I was there for 3 days over the weekend with my wife and daughter. Hotel staff are very welcoming and friendly. There were just a few small things that let down the overall experience.
Our suite TV didn't work and we had to ask twice to have it sorted . There was a small issue with a loose toilet seat that the cleaners couldn't have missed, but I fixed it myself. In the restaurant one of the evenings, my wife ordered a side salad with her food that never turned up. The server offered to get it but the meal was finished at that stage.
These little things may be one-off's but 3 in the weekend seems a bit much. Even the bill was missing some items on checkout, I had to remind them to charge me for an extra bed for my daughter.
Food and atmosphere were excellent otherwise, spa superb.

Room Tip: Ask not to be overhead reception as we had our window open slightly to ease the heat and it was quit...

We have just come back from a week's stay. It is our second visit and it certainly won't be our last. It is a beautiful hotel fabulously located with lots of Swiss character. Staff are incredibly willing and go out of their way to help. Very useful free shuttle mini bus is provided and all of the drivers are friendly and extremely helpful. Food is very good but a touch on the expensive side. Rooms are cosy and spotlessly clean. Spa is fabulous but hard to get into during high season so well worth booking in advance. Stunning swimming pool but water could be warmer it was too cold for me!! This hotel has everything you could possible need and is very much a five star hotel.

This is really a special hotel in a marvellous resort , very welcoming , spacious rooms , great dining , friendly staff never intruding but always trying to help where asked , very useful hotel mini bus which will run one to the main town and pick you up , great pool and steam room / sauna ... Almost the perfect spot ... Easy train access to the main ski area and fun run down after days activities with return right to the hotel ... Felt hotel even better than last year... If one was critical the only comments are ... Spa impossible to get treatment unless prebooked , service in bar a little slow though picked up and pointless giving daily British newspaper when it is day old and up to date available in town ! .... Lastly breakfast service a little chaotic but all in all a really special place of charm , fun and great level of positive energy and luxury accommodation .... And certainly not cheap but godd value compared to many ..... We love it x

Room Tip: Prob a higher room gives a better mountain view ...

Have just come back from a long weekend at the Chalet RoyAlp and had a great time in company with two other couples of friends. The whole experience at this hotel is a 5 star one. The service is impeccable and the willingness of staff to assist you with any requirement you might have is second to none. We greatly appreciated the shuttle bus service whereby you can ask to be taken anywhere in town and can phone to be collected at all times until about 1.00am. We were taken to and collected from the ski hire shop and from restaurants and bars and they were always prompt and unremittingly polite.

The rooms were lovely and the spa was perfect - a lovely relaxing place.

The food was good - we ate in the Roche Grise restaurant which was very good.

Sure it is expensive, but it is Switzerland and you are paying for the luxury and the service!

Only slight gripe was that the bar service was pretty slow and at times not as professional as the rest of the hotel. But it would be wrong to be picky and I would definitely go back!

My wife and I spent a week at the Chalet RoyAlp and had an amazing time. The Chalet is designed and appointed beautifully. We were greeted and treated like royalty during our entire stay. Everyone on the staff went out of their way to be helpful and acted like they really enjoyed taking care of anything and everything, in order to make our time at the Chalet special. Breakfasts are a treat ... with a very large assortment of fruits, yogurts, eggs, bacon, cheeses, freshly squeezed orange juice, cereals, etc. We stayed for a week while we visited with family, but most who stayed were skiers and for that the location was perfect. Our room was large, comfortable and very clean. The spa is amazing and the massages were among the best my wife and I have ever enjoyed. Everyone at the Chalet RoyAlp took great pride in their work and it showed. They are a 5 star establishment and they deserve every star. My wife and I would definitely stay here again.
