“wonderful atmosphere, great food”
Reviewed 21 October 2012

our four year old daughter keira and my wife and i laura really enjoyed the stay at the seehotel. the team is very friendly and the food excellent. breakfast has homemade marmelade, fresh bread, eggs, coffee, fruits, cereal, whatever your heart desires. dinner was off the charts good - really fine cuisine. the real master of the house is a cat called barolo, sorry more of a mountain lion.. the location right on the lake is gorgeous and we used the pool, sauna, and spa in the neighboring hotel - great arrangement - to chill out after taking the ferry to lucerne. overall very pleasant stay that we extended by one day because we liked it so much. in addition we bought beef from the near by butcher and apples from a farm up the hill. will be back!

Room Tip: partial sea and mountain view is fine

My wife and I did a 2 week tour of Europe and we arrived here in mid September. We stayed in many hotels during our trip but we would rate this one as one of the best.

We were pleasantly surprised to be greeted by the family members on arriving at the hotel. To add to the surprise, we got a room with one of the windows overlooking the Luzernsee and waking up to that itself is enough to give the hotel 5 stars :) Overall, the atmosphere of the hotel is very cosy and family like.

The Hotel is a 5-10 min walk, depending on the amount of luggage that you have, from the Weggis ship port. We had some luggage so we thought we needed someone to pick us up, but luckily it wasn't far at all.

Within the hotel you have a lift, free wifi, spotlessly clean rooms and 3 restaurants. One of the restaurants is right by the lake but it was a bit chilly when we went so my wife and I couldn't sit there.

One bit of advise in terms of logistics. The last ship from Luzern leaves at 1812. After that there is a train you can take to Klassnacht and then a bus to Weggis. However, we found that a bit of a pain as Weggis closes pretty early. Also the ship is really convenient imho.

This family-run hotel is located right by the Luzernsee and is very cosy and comfortable, with big super-clean rooms, free (fast!) wi-fi connection, small library and three good restaurants. The staff (and the owners) are outstanding - friendly, helpful, and they take care of every guest like everyone was the most important. Another great thing - the guests can use the sauna/swimming pool area of the neighboring hotel (Beau Rivage) - very relaxing after a day-long hike in the mountains that surround the lake.
The hotel owners keep two pets - a dog and a huge cat - they don't get in the way but if you're allergic, you should consider that beforehand. However, if you like pets, and would like to travel with one, you can bring them along.
Overall, great place!

Returned to the Seehotel in September - our second visit but this time accompanied by my wife's niece and husband visiting from Canada. The hotel remains as friendly and welcoming as ever, great customer service, lovely rooms and great food. We were not disappointed. Sadly it rained non-stop for the first 72 hours of our stay and thereafter although not raining average visibility was minimal so the fantastic view from the rooms was only a memory. We did manage to eat out in the lakeside are for our last night though.

We stayed in a deluxe room with a sitting area overlooking the lake. No problem not having air conditioning here because the breeze always seemed to pick up at night and made sleeping very comfortable. They did have a tiny elevator but we usually walked up 3 flights of stairs.

Make reservations in the morning for dinner on the terrace since some nights they fill up. Lovely breakfast was included in the price. Always a fresh egg offered. Lots of breads and more to choose from.

Beds were comfortable and room and bathroom was clean. A bit of a tight fit to walk around the bed itself and could add a few bruises to your chins. That's the ONLY complaint I could possibly come up with about this hotel. We were in Room 317 and it was quite large with a sitting area separate from the bed area. Lots of windows. The buses that run through the towns do start kind of early in the morning so if you are a light sleeper your days might start early. There were smaller rooms with the same beautiful rooms if you are on more of a budget.

Our sons had a room in the annex. It was fine for them and if you are on a tight budget but want a beautiful place to stay this would be a fine room for 120CHF. But if the weather is hot you might feel a little stuffy at night.

The family that runs the hotel is very nice and helpful. Ready to answer any questions or advise you on how to fill your days. The restaurant was absolutely perfect. Every dish we had was delicious and wonderful ambiance. One evening we chose from the pizza menu and we had several yummy thin crust pizzas. As with everything in Switzerland the cost of the meals were very high. The pizza night was cheaper.

The pool located at the hotel across the street was available for us to use. And it was great to be able to take a dip during the warm afternoons. They also have a really nice hot tub.

It was great to be able to visit Lake Lucerne and stay in a place away from the hustle and bustle of Lucerne but still an easy drive or easy to take the public transportation to Lucerne. Weggis doesn't really have much to do except for some hiking or biking.

Room Tip: For budget stays ask for a room in the Annex. If you crave space and a view 317 is the one for...

I had the pleasure to visit some good friends who live in Weggis and they booked the SeeHotel for me. I would certainly recommend it. A great choice and location: comfortable, well-equipped spacious rooms, excellent breakfasts and a super lake-side restaurant where we ate one evening (brilliant steaks). Service was excellent and they do a mean boiled egg!! The setting of Lake Lucerne is stunning and Weggis is a great base for exploring the area. I will bring my bicycle next time....

Room Tip: Room 171 was towards the back of the hotel - quiet but without a full lake view

Second time here and every bit as good as the first. The hotel is family run and so friendly and the staff are also very good. Lovely rooms, spotlessly clean and with an excellent restaurant. Switzerland generally is expensive but at least here you feel you have had a good experience for your money. Breakfast included in the price and excellent selection of delicious fresh breads and products. Would highly recommend. Small swimming pool for guest use in hotel opposite.

Room Tip: Got to be lakeside view!
