My husband and I stayed here 3 nights before we headed to zermatt. We LOVED Waldehaus! The staff were so friendly and our views were gorgeous! We loved the dinner so much we made reservations right after for the following night! Breakfast was good as well and always stocked with cheese, meats, breads and cereal. You won't be disappointed!
Recently stayed for three nights. Wonderful location, extremely friendly owners, perfectly clean and a great restaurant. The fact that the tickets for the Spa and the Cable Cars were included was the cherry on the cake. After a long hike in the beautiful mountains you hopp for an hour or so into the warm pools of the spa.
This hotel is charming, has delicious food, and an absolutely amazing level of service. We had decided to spend the day walking on paths high above the valley where Leukerbad is nestled , on the mountainsides, before descending to the next hotel where we were going to stay , down in the valley, near Leuk. We wanted to send our backpacks ahead so we didn't lug them all day on our backs. First, in response to my query ahead of our stay, Hotel Waldhaus researched the options available for transporting our luggage and promptly emailed me the options (bus or taxi and prices!) Then, when we arrived, the hotel called the bus service for us and arranged to have our luggage transported from Leukerbad to Leuk at the other end of the valley, and THEN, without charge, took our luggage to the bus station so we didn't have to!!!! WOW. They went above and beyond. We had a lovely day in the mountains hiking 17 miles, without the burden of our backpacks as we climbed and descended steep paths. Thank you Hotel Waldhaus . You are a lovely, well located hotel who really care for your guests. We had fabulous views from our room. Stay here!. You won't regret it.
The general level of service at this hotel is very high. I had a large rom with a balcony and a stunning mountain view. The room was well maintained and clean. The style of the hotel is typically Swiss. The room rate when I was there included free travel on the cable cars and the village bus as well as three hours in the thermal baths. I stayed on a half-board basis which represents excellent value for money. Although there is a limited choice, the food served was of very good quality and well presented in the modern style. Make sure you discuss the local wine with the proprietress who is very knowledgeable and will point you in the right direction. It was a big bonus at the end of my stay to get a free bottle of the house red.
Our original plan was to experience the best thermal baths in Switzerland, and so Leukerbad came up very naturally. But we did not expect at the time of choosing to receive such a hearty welcome from the hotel Waldhaus that apart of free passes to one of the two town baths included free passes to the nearby peaks Gemmi and Torrent plus delicious 6-course dinner. The latter option was at an extra cost and we were recommended to book it from the reviews. The cuisine was really exceptional, and the choice of Swiss wines was fantastic. Overall it was a 3-day stay in a paradise, and we better make it longer next time.
