Description: In a rustic yet elegant atmosphere, Fabio Badinotti and his team offer an extensive range of Mediterranean and regional cuisine. In addition to the traditional dishes and "the chef recommendation" on the menu, Chef Kenny Oberholz proposes seasonal and regional festivals in collaboration with guest chefs throughout Italy. The restaurant has a beautiful terrace facing the lake, where you can enjoy our dishes with a fine wine or a refreshing aperitif or a bowl of ice cream. We look forward, with great pleasure, to serving you.

“Lovely setting, tasty food, with service that was just a bit too leisurely”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 July 2013

I enjoyed my dinner at the Al Pontile, and I appreciated the opportunity to relax with a view of the piazza and lake and surrounding hills – lovely!

My meal included a luscious, richly flavored asparagus soup and a very tasty lake trout with almonds, accompanied by zucchini, carrots, and finger potatoes. Very good!

The service was, however, perhaps a bit too leisurely, at least at first: More than 20 minutes elapsed between the time I was seated and when I was asked to place my order. ☹ Once my order was taken, the service, now provided by a different person, was more timely and attentive.

“Great meal, lovely atmosphere right opposite the lake”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 May 2013

This restaurant is full of old world charm and delightful staff except if you only speak English. Even then all but one tried their hardest to understand. The one who didn't soon lost his snappy attitude and this helped us enjoy the whole experience of dining on really fresh, tasty, home style food. So enjoyable was the food that we are considering a return visit! Can imagine no nicer place on a sunny day in this lovely little village.

“Great food, excellent setting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 February 2013 via mobile

We ate outside on a particularly nice day and were treated to a really good performance from a passing piano accordionist. We both had risotto which was cooked perfectly and the staff were friendly and efficient. One of the nicer lakeside restaurants in Ascona, not cheap but worth it. £55 for two including drinks.

“Good food - stilted atmosphere”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 March 2012

Title says it all. The food was quite good. The atmosphere was straight out of the 1970's (complete with a pianist playing 'favourites' from your forgotten past). Very expensive for the quality offered. View over the lake - hence several of the above points.
