I spend most of the month of February in Barssel for a new job, and stayed at the Hotel Zum Weissen Ross for the entire stay. Overall it was a decent, comfortable hotel for such a small (very small) town. A nice, older couple owns and runs the hotel. At first they seem pretty gruff. But, by the second week I and my two colleagues felt more like well cared-for sons by the wife (who cooks made to order eggs every morning!).
Not huge rooms, but average for Germany. Only CNN Int'l and BBC for English channels. But, the WIFI was pretty good for web surfing at night.
A few restaurants are close, within a block (Italian, Chinese, & American - Texas steak house). Once a week we ran to the nearest larger town (small city) Oldenburg, 30 minutes away, for a really nice dinner and a walk around the old/new downtown.More
