Description: This beautiful 16th Century village Inn is ideally located on the banks of the River Frome at Freshford, on the outskirts of Bath. The surrounding countryside is part of The Cotswolds Area Of Outstanding Beauty and is favoured by many cyclists, joggers and walkers - the pick of the trails being the Two Valleys Walk. With original timber beams, open fires, a pretty beer garden, ample car parking and a very warm welcome - the Inn is a true destination pub serving great food, real ales and fine wines.

We visited last Friday evening but we will not return. I ordered the whole baked fish of the day but was served battered fish and chips. When eventually my correct meal arrived it was dry and tasteless. My husbands sausages were so tough it was hard to cut them. The area where we ate was very noisy. The young girls who are serving are very pleasant but they need training and some supervision. This was all in all a very poor dining experience.

The Inn has a very good steak menu. The service is friendly, not so keen on the large dog, which everyone was walking over and stroking before serving the food !!!

We had visited before and been impressed but the bar staff on this visit were not very efficient. Neither were the kitchen staff but the food was of good standard and we will definitely return again.
Lovely location outside when warm and sunny but equally welcoming inside when weather not so good.

We visited The Inn at Freshford for Sunday lunch on the recommendation of the receptionist at our hotel. Having fortunately arrived early for a very pleasant walk along the nearby (c.50 metres away) picturesque river, parking was easy, though when we left the car park and the pub were both very busy, despite the staff saying it was a quiet lunchtime for them! Our dog was whole-heartedly welcomed inside the restaurant area and the staff were very friendly and extremely efficient. The food was very good indeed and served promptly - our only criticism would be that we did feel that portion sizes were a little light, in particular the dessert. Nevertheless, a delightful characterful rural pub which we would certainly recommend and will visit again.
