“Wonderful cosy retreat in the beautiful village of Freshford”
Reviewed 18 October 2014 for a stay in October 2014

The apartment within the owners house is beautifully decorated with high quality fixtures and fittings. The owners are friendly and helpful and there are plenty of leaflets and information for places to visit. The bed is large and comfortable and the rooms warm. There is a wood burner, which you do not need due to the central heating, but I had it up and running a few times (a man thing!). The entire place was very clean with some basic provisions of milk, tea and coffee. We would definitely come back again and have already recommended Abbotsleigh to friends and family.

“One of the best holiday rentals which I have had.”
Reviewed 2 October 2014 for a stay in September 2014

The owners are very friendly and helpful without being intrusive. The house is immaculate, very quiet, has everything that you need and shows that a lot of thought has gone into making this a superb rental. There is a nice garden to sit out in, with a lovely view. This rental is so good that it is difficult to know what else to say.
I slept on the sofa bed, which was amazingly comfortable for a sofa bed.
Freshford is a very pretty village with an excellent shop, café and pub. Public transport links with Bath or Bradford on Avon make having no car a very easy option, allowing you to escape the bustle of the city. There are public footpaths everywhere in the village, with several longer walks available. The area is very pretty, with lots of woodland, valleys and old villages built from Cotswold stone.
I can't recommend Abbotsleigh Cottage too highly.

Liked best: Silence at night apart from an owl on the wire outside the front door, which was lovely.
Liked least: If I had been driving, the narrow lanes of Freshford would have been a challenge for me.

“DELIGHTFUL!!”
Reviewed 12 September 2014 for a stay in September 2014

Does'nt having a good night's sleep make all the difference when you're away from home.

I'm like the 'Princess and the Pea' with a bad back .. and truly THIS IS THE BEST BED EVER!! The quality mattress is beautifully sprung with a wool and silk topping and the fine white cotton sheets carefully ironed.

The cottage is ergonomically designed, quiet, spotlessly clean, comfortable .. the view is lovely and so are Naomi and Phil.

“Outstanding accommodation in peaceful location within easy reach of Bath”
Reviewed 31 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

We stayed here for a long weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary and can honestly say that it is one of the best holiday rentals we have ever stayed in. The cottage is cosy and comfortable with everything needed, and luxurious touches that make it feel special. The owners are friendly and helpful without being obtrusive. Freshford is a very pretty village, the community run shop has everything that you might want and the station which is a 15-20 minute walk is just 1 stop from Bath. We can recommend the village pub 'The Inn at Fresford' for good food and locally produced real ales with a friendly service. For those who like to walk there are maps within the cottage and we would love to return to try these out. All in all we had a wonderful time, we have come away with lovely memories and would love to return.

“Wonderful stay”
Reviewed 30 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

My 19 year old daughter and I stayed at the Abbotsleigh cottage during July 204. We had spent some time in London and Milton Keynes and I was keen to show my daughter the beautiful english countryside and we were not disappointed. The village is lovely with thatched roofs, winding country lanes and some lovely trails/walks. There is a pub where we ate a couple of times - which was nice and the community run shop where you can get necessities ie bread, milk etc. The cottage itself was very comfortable and had absolutely everything you needed, including wifi which was good for research and keeping in touch with home. I took the bedroom and my daughter slept on the couch which converted to a double bed size. The kitchen was very well appointed with all lthe utensils, pots and pans etc. Even the small things like cooking oil and herbs. We didn't do very much cooking but everything was there if needed. The owners Philip and Naomi were marvellous hosts and were very helpful and very keen to assist whenever needed and right there so it was easy to ask for help or advise. They seemed to anticipate your needs which was lovely. There is a train station in the village and Freshford is just one stop from Bath so very easy to get to Bath if you didn't want to drive, The train runs quite often during peak times but I think it was once an hour during the quieter times. Of course Freshford is very conveniently placed and we were able to drive to visit Glastonbury, Cheddar Gorge, Lacock and a few other places of interest and Phil and Naomi were able to advise the best places to see. It was a wonderful stay and I would definitely recommend.

“Beautiful cottage in beautiful location and wonderful hosts”
Reviewed 30 June 2014 for a stay in June 2014

We very much appreciated the very warm welcome and helpfulness of the hosts. The brownies were a lovely touch. The cottage is very comfortable, tastefully decorated and well-equipped. The bed is great, even the knives are sharp -- an unusual occurrence in a vacation rental. The view from the property is breath-taking, over the lovely garden and valley & hills beyond. Most of the time the only sounds were of birds and horses' hooves. Freshford is a lovely, very hilly village, but not far from Bath.

The owners Phil and Naomi ,
Very welcoming, helpful and present the property to a very high standard. The whole apartment was well decorated and furnished and equipped.
The gardens and aspect from the garden really nice to sit out and enjoy a glass of wine in the evening or a cup of tea in the morning.
Many thanks,
George and Erain
