“Great value for money”
Reviewed 17 February 2013

We spent some days with friends in Les Diablerets both in 2011 and in 2012. Both times at Les Sources. This was both times great experiences. We had the half board option and ski cards included in the package.

The staff are extremely friendly, food is good, relatively big rooms wtih quite hard beds.

The sking resort is very good while the village is quite small and sleepy.

This is a great place for quite friend/family trips without too high prices.

Connection to Geneva is easy by train.

Food quality is above average and good value for money. Service is good and attentive. Staff are helpful. Layout of dining room and bar area are convenient. Bedrooms are comfortable and warm. Furniture is somewhat dated. However bathroom is tiny and there are not enough electrical sockets. Free wifi is good. Boot and ski rooms are too small and are not properly heated.

Stayed at the hotel for a week during a training conference. The staff were outstanding, the rooms typical of Europe (a little small compared to US rooms, the bathrooms tiny) but comfortable and clean. The food was very good, with five course meals served at lunch and dinner. The owner is pleasant and bent over backwards to ensure our entire group's need were met quickly and with a smile! The staff were great, almost all of them speak English (and French of course) and very understanding of language barriers. The view of the mountains is spectacular and the hotel is just walking minutes from the slopes and the train station.

The main purpose of our trip was to give the children the experience of travelling on a sleeper train which we did across France to Geneva. We wanted to see Lake Geneva, the Alps and Chillion Castle but we didn't know where to base ourselves. We contacted the Swiss Tourist Office who sent us plenty of information and we decided to stay in Les Diablerets.

Les Diablerets is a quiet beautiful village 1155 m above sea level, surrounded by mountains. It is a short bus ride from the cable cars to Glacier 3000 which is a must do trip. We travelled by snow bus on Glacier 3000 to see the most incredible views of Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn. As visited during a heat wave the snow was soft so there were no husky dog rides. The children loved the Alpine Coaster the highest bob sleigh ride - I wasn't too keen but I can always say "I did it".

Check out the Co-Op supermarket which has a large selection of chocolate and souvenirs, which were much cheaper than other places.

We had reason to visit the chemist and found the lady there very helpful and pleasant.

The hotel is situated beside woods and by a river and stream. It is approx 10 minutes walk along the river from the train station and bus stop.

The hotel is a typical alpine hotel. Our room had a small balcony with mountain view. The sound of the stream was very pleasant. There was a stairs in the bedroom which lead to our children's beds - we were all together and yet we had some privacy - ideal. There was an ensuite with shower and a large wardrobe. Comfortable chairs, table and a TV.

The staff in the hotel are extremely nice. They offered to collected us from the railway station and were always pleasant.

The chef in the hotel is worth his weight in gold. We booked half board. The buffet breakfast consisted of boiled eggs, meat, cheese, breads and preserves (some typical Swiss), cornflakes and a sweet muesli. I had been expecting a different type of muesli containing fruit, nuts and cereals. There were a large selection of teas and chocolate drinks. Coffee, juice and milk was also available.

The evening meal was a 5 course set menu with plenty of variety. We enjoyed every course of every meal. But if there was something which didn't appeal to you there was plenty to eat in the other four courses. The homemade soup and desserts were outstanding.

This hotel is not a flashy luxury hotel. It has a very homely feel, clean, comfortable and excellent value for money. We were very glad we visited Les Diablerets and stayed at Hotel Les Sources. The impression I took away from Les Diablerets was of a friendly safe happy place. In the cool of the evening we walked in the woods without any worry. When people joined the bus or train they gave a general friendly greeting to all on board reminiscent of a bygone era. We would love to return in winter.

p.s. I would be glad to answer questions on this hotel but I have experienced difficulties lately with personal messages.
