“A Snapshot of the Past”

A great alternative on a rainy Sunday. It's not what you expect - its lively and you can try on uniforms from the past. Run and maintained by passionate volunteers on the grounds of the Carlow District Hospital you will have a very entertaining afternoon. The collection of different uniforms and artefacts from about 800 years of history is very impressive. Not only can you look at the various items, you even can try them out. Great fun for Children and Adults alike

“Talk at the museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 May 2013

My name is J.S. AND I gave a talk at the museum last night on 9.5.2013. all Staff who where there where very sportive in all aspects of the museum. my son who came with me had ''the best time ever'' so he said. he is only 8, but he was allowed to handle pistols, rifles and also a machine gun, what was the highlight of his visit. all people who are listening to my talk had all a military history in some sort of a way. It felt really good to talk there because of the surroundings and the atmosphere. well done to everybody involved.

“Worth a visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 October 2012

This museum is quite unique. Although small, it has a wonderful selection of exhibits, from the middle ages up to modern day, mostly related to Carlow military personnel. Allow several hours to browse the exhibits. The gentlemen who run the museum are most informative and willing to give you their undivided attention.
