“We won this night”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2013

We won this stay in the roulotte/gipsy caravan so we don't really feel we should complain about anything, however, as there aren't many reviews on the roulotte, I hope this will be helpful to the owner as feedback and people looking into staying in the roulotte.

We had a great welcome by the owner in English & French, he took us quickly to our roulotte and we had no talk about the pool (bachée/covered up), jacuzzi or other services that I was reminded of reading other reviews, but we just had to ask if we wanted to. I was a bit disappointed the pool was covered as I like pool views and we had chosen the end of May for the pool and weather, but it would probably have been too cold anyway.

The roulotte I found was quite romantic and small, which didn't bother me. The bedding/literie is just amazing, I adored it. And I'd love to know the brand used. The bathroom is small but it's ok, although, if you're spending your first romantic weekend there, be aware the door isn't a proper door noise wise. I was disappointed there was no showel gel, lucky we had some! It was very cold when we arrived as all the windows were opened, but we closed them and used the electric heating which Sylvain told us about, and it was fine after. If you look carefully, the roulotte looks a bit run down although the decoration is very nice and I can see the effort that's been put in. At least one of the shower panels need changing as it looks dirty but it's old age I think, the roulotte being very clean.

There is a CD player, great, but no CD, so bring your CDs!

Disappointed breakfast: the croissants and petits pains au chocolats were great quality (2 of each so 1 of each/person), but that's all we were given with yogurts 'nature', nutella portions, coffee and cheap orange juice. We don't drink coffee and I prefer hot milk with chocolate. Again, I feel bad about complaining as we didn't pay for anything, but I hate cheap orange juice. Breakfast is put outside the roulotte at 8/8.30am, it's all in a protected panier so the animals can't touch it.

I adored the big garden. this was my favourite. It's amazingly beautiful, well maintained. There was a pond with a duck family with 10 babies, very cute. If you're into yoga/meditation, this place is for you. I liked the vibes and had a great walk/run there, as well as a few games of pétanque and a great session on the swings/balançoires, which are a great touch to this amazing garden.

Room Tip: The houses looked amazing inside (from the garden). The roulotte is good for something different. As...

We stayed for 2 nights and used this B&B as a base for exploring the Somme battlefields and memorials. We weren't disappointed at all! The B&B is very tastefully furnished and our room was very large and spacious. It's all extremely clean and comfortable. The owner speaks good English and is very friendly and helpful.
There is free parking onsite and it's just a short 5 minute drive out of Arras. I wouldn't recommend this place if you don't have a car but if you do it's perfect and excellent value for money.

Room Tip: Breakfast is extra. I would recommend skipping it and eating out at a local cafe or just visiting a...

Stayed for one night on 30 September. The house is in a very quiet cul de sac with a fantastic garden. The decor is really attractive and modern. Amazingly attractive and tranquil. Silvain was very friendly and helpful. We were en route for the ferry at Calais and it provided a really lovely peaceful stay. We were hoping to go out for a meal in the town of Arras and get a taxi back but unfortunately on Sundays there is no taxi service! So, we shopped in the local small supermarket (like a little Tesco almost) and took food and wine back to Au21 and catered for ourselves in the very clean and comfortable kitchen/diner. There were no other guests in the house and Silvain was out for the evening, bliss looking out over the garden as we ate our meal. The breakfast was really lovely. Would not hesitate to stay again and recommend to others. We found it quite difficult to find - maybe a satnav would help. Well done Silvain.

For anyone seeking a break when visiting the battlefields or traveling on south or wanting a break before returning home this takes some beating , great value for a large room and bathroom with lots of hanging space the use of the downstairs lounge and kitchen plus garden and pool, all immaculate , the breakfast is beautifully presented by Sylvain who does all he can to keep you happy and inform, he puts a lot of effort into running this place and it shows.
Arras itself has a great historic centre in the Flemish style and the Grand Place is quite a sight, this guesthouse is for the standard rooms great value for money and I would recommend it to anyone.

We stayed at Au21 for 1 night, having arrived in Arras with nowhere to stay. Sylvain extended a warm welcome to us and could not have been kinder. The whole property is clean, thoughtfully decorated and furnished.

Our room was spacious with a large en suite bathroom and the bed was comfortable, although the headboard rattles at the slightest movement.. Fortunately, we have been married for many years, so it didn't matter, but newly weds might find the rattling headboard a bit disconcerting. The headboard is a small criticism....in all other respects the bedroom was excellent.

The lounge/dining area is exceptional, particularly as it overlooks the beautiful gardens. It is a lovely venue for breakfast, which was fresh and enjoyable. The overriding ambience is definitely French, but lovers of a pot of "English builders" tea will not be disappointed. Everything served at breakfast was of excellent quality.

Sylvain also operates an honesty bar for guests. We didn't use it, but it is a nice touch.

Overall this is a very nice place to stay in and visitors will not be disappointed.

The gypsy caravan we stayed in was not romantic. It was cold, the bed was uncomfortable, there was no TV, no wi-fi, nowhere to place your clothes and you have to eat breakfast sitting on the bed. Also would have been nice to have toiletries in the shower room. 150 euros a night is excessive for staying in this!

A great find if you seek something a little special and out of the ordinary. Au21 is set in a large modern residential house in a quiet residential area. Your host provides the warmest of welcomes and excellent personal service. We had the ‘Room 1 suite,’ a bedroom, large bathroom, separate WC and a study lobby at the level of the principal common rooms. These provide a kitchen where you can make hot drinks, a lounge and the breakfast area. We had a view of the extensive beautifully landscaped grounds to the rear with a large pond occupied by a duck and 10 ducklings, an area for Boulle and the romantic gypsy caravan room option. There’s also a hot tub and a small swimming pool if you want to emulate the ducklings. The whole was delightfully presented in a very personal and romantic style. Breakfast included coffee, fresh orange juice, and croissants and bread that were quite the best you’ll ever taste. Au21 is a few Km from the centre of Arras that comes alive at night (ask your host for advice on restaurants – we went to La Cave des Saveurs) and a convenient 70 minutes drive from the Channel ports.
